Tires for OCTAVIA RS 1.8T

Featured Replies

Hello, I need to buy new tyres for my machine and I`m thinking switch from 205/50/17 to 225/45/17.

I would like to know your experiences concerning this change.

The consumption is higher , how much ?

Thanks

Haven't done this myself yet but maybe worth you doing a search first, the advanced search is very good.

Ian :D

I did it when I got new wheels so went from 205/55/16 to 225/45/17 and they feel alot better, a bit firmer but cornering feels more stable, didn't really notice much difference on the fuel economy but wasn't really looking

Hmm I wouldnt mind doing this as the tyres are cheaper but I have 2 decent Contis on the back (standard size) with some meat left. Would this be ok to do as the fronts are on their way out?

Cheers,

I have the 225's on the front and 205's on the back no probs. I was in the same boat as you with the rears having loadsa tread left when i got the fronts. (toyo proxes t1-r by the way).

maybe think about 215/45/17......out of all the tyres ive had on all my cars i find these are by far the best.....stick to the road like **** to a blanket but yet smooth enough so as not to rattle your teeth on a uneven road!:)

k:)
