Instrument cluster swap

Featured Replies

Just got a VW red & blue instrument cluster off eBay to swap with the standard green one. Thing is its a MotoMeter cluster and the one in the car is a VDO cluster so not sure if it will fit. Anybody know for sure?

I doubt it, are the case clips in the same place?

Have you read my guide and have you got the SKC for the new cluster?

Haven't compaired the two side by side yet. Was thinking that the cases might be different. Will have to check. Have been waiting for ages to find the right partnumber (1J0920926A) on eBay, just forgot to ask if it was a VDO unit.

Did read your guide a while ago, was very useful when changing all the other switches and climate control.

Didn't get the SKC but might be able to get it from seller. Although local Skoda dealer (Mid Cornwall Cars) said they should be able to do it without it.

sorry to butt in.. EddyH, is your guide publically accessible somewhere please?

cheers!

If the Skoda dealer can connect directly to the VAG database it should be fine, just wasn't sure a dealer would take something like this on. Is the cluster at 0 miles?

 great read! thank you.

Just compaired the two clusters and the cases are completely different. :thumbdwn: Looks as if it will be going back on eBay soon.
