New front wipers wanted

Featured Replies

With all my local dealers now gone, I want to get new front wipers, either original equipment or ones that fit exactly like them. Can't find anything in Halfords etc.

Do I have to get them by post, or something, from a main dealer? I don't really want a 40 mile round trip if I can help it.

Thanks - just ordered a pair - about £26 incl. p&p. Picture on web site looks exactly like originals. Called Valeo. Anyone know them?

VALEO are a common OEM make. No problems.

Valeos arrived today - really good! Showed me how lousy the old ones had got - worth every penny [not yet tried above 70mph though!]

Decided to get rear wiper too and decided to see if Clarion (Worthing specialist dealer where I bought the car) had them. They did. At first he pooh-poohed my buying the fronts on the internet for £26 incl p&p - said they'd only have been £15 with them - then he found out that was for one! Agreed that the two Valeos from Wiperblades.co were fair value after all.

The rear one from Clarion cost me about £5.70 incl vat. Looks and fits like original equipment. It does not appear to be listed on Wiperblades own website.

My front two wipers cost GBP 33 from the Skoda dealers. Is that right? Seemed a bit steep.

How secure would anyone that's used wiperblades.co.uk say they were?

It's just that I noticed the checkout.php page that requires full billing name and address etc is not encrypted and I was gonna order a set off them....

i would first of all try and give them a clean with some vinegar if they not split, this will make them seem like new again for a while and remove the crude that accumilates on the wiper blades.

good tip there, always worth doing before going for a MOT, I also do the windscreen to cut the grease, so the testers have no excuse to fail the blades especially if having the MOT done at a main stealer, as they like to add on certain 'known' parts to bump the price up.

i use to buy new blades on previous cars every 6 months or so, even after washing them when i washed the car they never seemed to improve till i saw the advert the other year with the rac and they recommended it, thought nothing to lose, free vinegar at most take aways and tried it and was impressed. So far the blades on this car are a year and a half old and perform well even through i know i need to do them this week from all the crude thats built up on them.

A similar good blade edge cleaner is a drop of undiluted screenwash liquid, used on a soft rag so as not to go onto the paint work.

I paid the same. Don't know price of rear one from dealer but I got a rear blade and 1 litre of washer fluid for

fill up with diesel costs
1-2 days more like, wipers generally last me 6-9 months

Yup, and your warranty 12 months. Still, it's a company car.... and all business mileage Darling
