The Octavia 17" alloys are

is that

is that

I believe they are OK with 205/40 tyres on - Using Octy tyres will cause problems IIRC.

As a comparison, the VW evolo 17s I had on the old furby retail at

IIRC it was the studs which caused the problem, not the tyres...dunno...

Rob.

Good question...

I would have assumed the stud pattern was no problem... And even with 7.5J wide wheels my old bolts more than adequately went through and into the hub OK. Got me wondering now..

Well - the furby vRS uses basically the same alloy, just a smidge smaller... I'm assuming it was Col_G that did the thing at Anglesey - wonder what happened?

If you didn't want the rubber, you should of asked!!!

I have four alloys, as new, delivery mileage.......how much???

Yes...so a search on the Anglesey review would probably give a clue, or when all the attendees stop being so industrious they might be able to shed some light... :D

If it comes to pass that I cannot get hold of two VW evolo alloys through a VW dealer, then I'll possibly be looking into this. I think historically

Indeed - I just found Col's post - he says the stud pattern is different between the octy and the fabia...

I never knew that was the case. I thought we all had the universal VAG 5 stud pattern

edit: Alex - I'll pass, ta. :D - good reminder actually - I haven't looked up where you live yet.

What ETKA price update is that? Issue 56 (08-09-03) had them priced at

sounds too dear to me ill get the parts to check at work tomm...

Ade, could you check what the latest price update is, please? (Top of Maintenance page).

Fergal, You can be nearly guaranteed that the alloys are going to be cheaper over here. Have you rang any of the dealers here? Regards David ;)

:D Hi David, nah havent had a chance yet, just wanted to get a feel for the prices, feckin ell if its

Fergal,

Why not swap the damaged one with the full size one you have in the boot.

I think theres a couple of places which refurbish them. I got some marks on mine done in Maynooth (Revolution Engineering), but I don't think they do it anymore. I wasn't 100% satisfied. have a look in buy and sell, also do a search on www.motornet.ie, I think someone else asked the same question.

hi ya GAff, hows the motor? yeah i though of that but reckoned i'd probably end up with two scuffed rims lol ;) not too worried, if they were cheap no prob but its not worth changing just yet, not an our raods anyway :D

its anice finish on the rim s Im assuming its hard to match :(

BTW you werent driving down Church st an eveing last week? saw a red vRS,

Cheers

Fergal

Hi guys been gone for a few days, problems with my hip (nothing to do with my nocturnal exploits i might add!! :D )

About your scuffed alloys, I kerbed a brand new Superb 17" Solid Alloy wheel (only did 500 miles), so when I got home I rang Wicked wheels (details in the company bit) and they did the job and they only charge one price for whatever work they did. To the untrained eye you couldn't really tell where they did the work, matched the paint and everything.

Hope this helps

Matt

17" Octavia RS alloys fit the Fabia fine with 40 profile tyres

The Fabia RS I test drove at Wings in Peterborough had a set fitted - they look very nice
