Straight line stability - Octy vRS

Featured Replies

It would be interesting to see your observations. I am limited to about 200m where it's possible to exceed 80mph and not get caught!

Given the right wind conditions 80mph would be more than enough ... I was being buffeted around at anything much over 60 on Tuesday.

The car probably wasn't moving around on the road as much as it felt, but I was following a Mondeo (new shape) that didn't appear to be having any trouble at all. I had to really concentrate, and it would have been uncomfortable for a passenger I would imagine.

As a slight aside, I came across a Vectra driver who had presumably not encountered Skoda power before ... bet he won't make that mistake again :P .

(on a private stretch of the M1, obviously, Mr Officer).

I think that resemblence is purely due to the words coming out of said orrifices when you speak

In addition to the spoiler Paul posted, I think Milotec do another slight more raised one simliar to the etates.

Think I saw it on the Butts webs site.

Being confused by this comment I checked out the Homepage of this 'Briskodian' An entirely different meaning to straightline performance !!!!

If anyone on here (Spindrift perhaps?) would care to help, I'd quite like to get this sorted properly.

I need someone with a car of similar performance to an Octy vRS, who can be in/on the Wirral this weekend, to follow me, an a quiet stretch of road (I have one in mind), while an asistant (my or their SWMBO perhaps) takes a video of my car from behind and from alongside. If we can't get a copy of a "smoke-trail" video from Skoda, we could make one, as Baldrick would say.

I'll make the video available on here for anyone who's interested. I've just about worked out how to do it ... in theory at least.

Anyone willing & interested enough to help?

i am sure i could get my hands on some military smoke flares if you dont mind gaffa taping them to your bonnet :D

hmmmmm ... might be a little excessive

I was thinking more of a builders smoke pellet, like I used to use for chimney lining work.

If anyone IS interested, PM me and I'll give you a phone number.

Oh Dear!

What have I started ?

Deny all responsibility .. NOW! I never said 45 minutes !

It was tactical not strategic

I've worked out how to prove whether the airflow over the tailgate is the problem, and quite safely too. I'll see if I can get my Bruv to drive SWMBO along behind the car over the weekend, and hopefully a picture or two might show whats going on.

Not as controlled as doing it in a tunnel, but it's the best I can think of ...

Has anyone made a modification to their Octavia vRS that improves it's straight line stability' date=' particularly on a windy day. I drove back from France in mine on Tuesday, when it was windy, and I was getting blown all over the shop, more than in other cars I've driven recently.

Just wondered whether anyone had fitted any aids that helped reduce the problem ...

had the same problems with my tavia vrs, fitted some blenstien suspension and lowered it on 40mm octavia springs which lowered it 25mm being a vrs and it sorted it right out,, gained a lot in many ways.

my tavia is for sale at minute and i have taken the suspension and spring s off of it for sale, they are going cheap if intersted.

Post details of the parts you have for sale in the For Sale and Wanted forum.
