CG Lock - Comments please

Featured Replies

I know some of you have been using these for some time now.

I've been considering getting one and just wondered what your thoughts are after a few months.

Do you use them all the time?

Any wear issues, to the lock or the belt?

Any other thoughts or comments?

Finally, the discount code (SKODAS2005) that was posted previuosly no longer works. Is there a new one?

I still use mine every day... Had mine for about as long as I've had the car.

I have noticed some "bobbling" of the belt where it's used, because I don't push the lever down on the device when adjusting it. Well worth it though. Makes you feel part of the car.

I can get them cheaper than £35 :D So can a few others actually.....

Regardless, there an excellent piece of kit, once you stop using them, it'll feel very weird..

I also got bobbling on my belt and as a result took it off the car.......

Chris

Hi!

The bobbling is purely superficial. A hot hairdryer removes the surface strands easily. We would love to set up another group buy if enough folks interested as the last one led to a lot of happy folks!

Have to say I'm happy with mine, and not had any belt deterioration yet.

CG lock ( have I missed something) eh ... what is it ?

Home - CG-Lock UK - Make your seat belt "Racing Harness Tight"

There was a group buy on one a while ago.

Not the easiest thing to search for on here, as the CG bit only has two letters so the search engine ignores it.

I'll try to find it though

Edit - here is is..... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/styling-exterior-interior/cg-lock/53786/

and feedback on it...... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/members-comments-cg-lock/61305/

Ashamed to admit I still haven't fitted it. I actually looked at the instructions and it looks easy enough, just not had time & my car is still off the road :(

Great when on, and cant see myself taking it off, but it has damaged my seat where it has been rubbing.

A little annoying, but still wont take it off as when I do dive its for 2 hours or more and it feels great.

I was looking at one as a bit of a pre-Xmas impulse buy really.

The money will have gone on something else by the time another Group Buy goes through.

If anyone has one that they aren't using any more and want to get rid please drop me a PM

Where are you from?

I'm in the North Manchester area.

I think CG Lock themselves are in Manchester, but I don't know if they have a shop or just do mail order. Don't fancy paying

Resurrecting this thread rather than start a new one because I cant decide whether or not to put this back on or not? I removed it when I changed my car last summer and have neglected to fit it to the new one until now but I'm interested in comments from those that have or are using one and the experiences both for and against.

Took mine off as it was damaging the seatbelt (despite what CG Lock say ). I used it for about 6 months but found the main problem compared to a proper harness is it doesn't lock the torso part of the belt so your body is still moving around under cornering and braking. It was also a lot of hassle if you were just driving the car 2 minutes to a petrol station and you had to tighten it each time. Lots of people I know swear by them, but I personally don't rate them.

Your mileage may vary, as they say. :D

Never heard of this but it looks tempting as I am forever pulling the lap section tight, especially with the leather seats.

Had it since TRAX before last. Love it - makes you feel like you're sitting in a recaro seat..

Some rubbing on the belt tho' - and the seatbelt retractor doesn't fully retract the belt fully any more...Anyone know if I can tighten up the retractor without messing up anything?

In short (!) I love it and use it all the time....

Bas

The feedback of seatbelt wear is the only thing putting me off buying one...

seatbelts are essentially sealed units , so , no you can't do anything about your baggy belt

I never got round to buying one, so if anyone has one they want rid of I may well give it a. Drop me a PM please.

I find I don't tighten mine the whole time. My belt shows only a slight bit of wear because of it and I'm always doing short journeys.

I sent the below to CG Lock before, I must say I was impressed with the guys feedback and comments.....very favourable. So hopefully they will be taken into account for the next version.

I do find it good, but I actually think the Octy seats ain't that comfortable. I dunno if its the steering not coming out far enough, not enough Lumber or just the limits of the seat position.

Plus my lower back above left hip is giving me trouble the last while and I'm unsure as to the cause, at one stage was wondering if CG-Lock is a factor.
