I'm picking up my car in Early Jan from the Dealer. Not getting in delivered....

So what was everyones mileage when you collected your new car?!

I have had anything between 0.3 and 15 miles on the clock when picking up a new car.

Any more than about 25 would be a slight worry though.

I think they sometimes shuffle about between dealers, and a transporter for one car would be expensive.

the only new car I've ever had had 27 miles on the clock when I got it.... but the dealer explained why that was..... I'd asked for a tracker to be fitted and the tracker place was 9 miles away!

mine had 7 miles tracker fitted x shop at garage premises

When i was working doing valeting at the renault dealers there was a new car going out to its firts customer with about 100 miles on it, i was told that this was because they can sometimes be used to take potential customers on test drives with trade plates on them, can be used around the yard etc. It just depends on how long its spent sitting at the dealers. I wouldnt be too hapy myself with one of these cars i must admit.

27 miles on mine, but to be fair it was moved to another dealer and they didn't have a transporter ready at the time, so I accepted it in order to get the car sooner.

The mileage on the clocks isn't necessarily true anyway as the dealer can reset it if it's below a certain threshold and upto 2 times.

Not acceptable to use a new car for test drives, I would insist on an ex-demo price in that case as that is exactly what it is at that point

And i'm picking up at the garage..so i should expect it to be more than 30miles!!

Thats what my bro had, and he thought it was a bit high!

I would no way expect more than 30 as there is no reason it should go out.

My Leon had 8 miles on the clock. However, as someone has already pointed out, this can be zeroed. I did this before leaving the premises so that I know the miles that I have put on it.

The last two cars i have bought from new

both have had about 3 miles on them

Anything above 50 miles and i would want to know how the car clocked up the miles

Its gonna be luxury compared to my last car...Fiat Stilo! That was such a heap!!!

Single figures or low tens unless you've asked for something that needs the car driven somewhere.

I had the privelege of collecting the first BMW E30 (1994) into the UK for a customer, it was delivered to a dealer in Bristol from were I collected it and drove it back to Lancashire, on that model it was a simple case of pulling a plug on the diff case. Customer collected and it had 10 miles on the clock.

Dont beleive the reading from the dealer, the car could have been anywhere

I'm picking up my car in 4 days time and opted for a trailer delivery since the car was delayed from 16.11.06 to 28.12.06 for no particular reason. I became suspicious that it might be being used for test drives ! If the mileage can be put back to zero anyway doesn't seem to be much point in going for the trailer. Is there any way you can tell when the car first hit UK shores ?

having read about being able to reset the mileage a few times before the customer gets the car, i wonder if thats what happened to a Fiat Seicento Sporting i once had from new , i drove off the from the dealers with zero miles on the clock :eek: , and it had been a pre-reg :(

Knowing how much our brand new cars have to be moved around before the customer receives them on average i would say in the 20-30s on average tbh.

When I worked at Peugeot they did that too. I thought it was a frigging cheek, but people never really asked too many questions.

When cars come off the transporter they could have between 0.5 and 5.

When the PDI the car (pre deivery inspection) they have to take it for a little drive to make sure that it functions okay.

Having worked at a stealership, I would question over about 30 unless circumstances like the tracker being fitted make it seem realistic.

I bought my Fabia vRS With 17 Miles on the clock....

When I got my Octy vRS new it had 4 miles on the clock.

However way back when I bought a new Vauxhall Astra in 1986 it was delivered new with 600 miles on the clock. The reason was that back then if the car was in dealer stock, it was customary for the car to driven from one dealer to the other rather than on the back of a transporter.

Well hopefully mine shouldn't be too high...as it was made to spec and took 10 weeks for order!

Just finally taken delivery of my 2.0tdi L&K DSG with just 11 miles on the clock, I ordered it in May though, 10 weeks delivery time would have been fantastic!!

It's lovely when the dealer apparently orders the "wrong" car eh?

My first Octavia - VRS1 had more than 30 miles on it.

The dealer explained that two traffic policeman used my car to see how a VRS went! - as they were investigating a potential fatal accident involving a VRS taxi and another vehicle - that had just happened the day before!

I was mega pi**ed off - as I can imagine what the two accident investigators were doing with my nice shiny new car!

TOTALLY unacceptable imho. I would accept delivery if that was the case with mine. :thumbdwn:
