Octy Headlight Woes... Help/ Advice needed please.

Featured Replies

Re: My 02 Octy.

My interior beam adjuster does not work so I also tried adjusting the manual adjustment headlamp screw (on top of headlamp), it worked and moved the beam higher but then mis-threaded (as the last owner probaly did on the other side), it was a plastic screw I think!

Now I'm stuck with incorrectly adjusted headlights that annoy other drivers, how can I fix this fast?

Please see photos below including an unknow part?

The interior adjuster breaking is common, on my old vRS only one side went up/down. The mechanism gets full of dirt, then when you go to use it jams and eats its own gears. IIRC the only solution is a new lamp, so I didnt bother.

A new lamp... no way! Thats an expensive repair? Surley there is a cheaper fix/ solution?

I am really stuck on this one people!

on the vRS the entire lamp has to be changed as the motor is internal... you can get the parts seperately... i had my drivers side map changed under warranty.

If your car is out of warranty now try EuroCarParts or GSF (Andy Spares).

Yes, your right, the motors have seized. How much is a new headlight?

I tried to adjust the beam the other night but couldn't tell the difference when moving the adjuster wheel - should it be obvious from inside the car? I've only had it 3 weeks and it's still in the dealer warranty so if it is defective I'd like to get it replaced. I'm presuming when I move the wheel the lights should dip/raise - I don't need to do anything else do I?

The change of position of the adjuster dial in the car should result in a quite obvious change in the angle of the lights and the distance the beam travels from the car. So given what you say, a trip to the dealer sounds to be in order.
