Fabia vs Seat LCR

Featured Replies

Happy New Year To All Members!!

Just a quickie - I have been toying with idea of going over to Seat :thumbdwn: in the form of the Seat Leon Cupra R once owned tuned easily to 275BHP. I love my Furby but have come a bit unstuck on the following:

1. No matter what I do tuning wise it is no way going to keep up with the SEAT, and I have been smoked the other day by an M5 which made me realise that when someone with a REAL performance car is trying, the FURBY might as well be stationary. He literally tanked away from me all the way until he was a blip in the distance. My car is not standard either, 190BHP and 150 on clock etc etc. Yes I know the difference in the BHP of the BM and power to weight etc - but it just shows that there is only so much I can do with the little furb.

2. The next stage of tuning will cost around 2 to 3K and it stll wont keep up with a modded LCR, which would entail FMIC, Turbo, Clutch.

3. OK the MPG will be 30 to gallon instead of 50 but the power hike for the money is a no brainer.

I dont normally put the furby down but no matter how much tuning I do within reason it will not move into the big league....any comments on the LCR!!

You know what they say New Year time for a change. Or if I dont I will be getting the 225BHP upgrade and still get smoked!!

Cheers

It all depends what you want from a car, i've come to the furby from a 270hp golf vr6 as the 16mpg av I was getting was killing my wallet.

What have you done to your car to get 190bhp?

Remap, air filter, thats all you need to do - I couldnt live with the standard BHP toooo tame, even though the tuners figures I think are sometimes a tad optimistic.

Best thing you can do to a diesel tune that puppy.

Yep 190bhp does sound a bit optimistic, i'd imagine 170-180 max would be about right....

You know what these rolling roads are like, I guess they push them up a bit and we all start dribbling even more....

That said I have pulled a clean 150 on the clock, not saying when or where but it was just to see what i could get out of it before it would either blow or shut down.....and sure enough pulled clean off clock racing a 6 series BM and turbo shut down!!!

Since then tend to drive sensibly like most citizens of GB

whatever you're driving this side of a supercar you will get smoked by an M5

a mate at work had a LCR , he was smoked by the 535 diesel , so i would imagine an M5 would kill a LCR

i don't think 275bhp is that easily attainable in the LCR either , not without spending a chunk of cash , but at the end of the day its your money

There will always be faster cars on the road, trying to compare your Fabia or even a LCR with a M5, you will always come out disappointed! You are talking differrent leagues!

Yes there is a huge step up in power between a Fabia and a LCR, but you will still have to accept there's even faster cars out there....

You really need to ask Snoopie, as he has just made the same change you are talking about, Fabia to LCR.

Chris

The M5 is stupendously fast.

The Leon wont help here!

Wont get near 30 mpg with a modded LCR, try 20, esp. when you will almost certainly be heavy with the right foot...

Great car, looks great IMO, maybe a little OTT and will inevitably make all other road users hate you due to jealousy etc...

HTH

How about an Octy vRS? Again tuneable, but doesnt look like a kiddies picture of a performance car ie the new LCR

so i would imagine an M5 would kill a LCR

No imagination needed...

A simple remap see's you nudging that sort of power ;)

There is an older guy from just outside Glasgow who has had his yellow LCR totally transformed by Jabba Sport and it is putting out serious crazy power. It even sports a Jabba number plate (JA02 BBA). Have seen it at a few Scottish meets and shows and it is awesome. If you can find it on the net have a look at it :D

The Octy is only 200BHP and will still only get 20 to 30MPG when spanked, also I would have thought the Seat can be tuned more and is lighter!! nice suggestion though I quite like the Octy - get some blue lights on it and I can permanently spank it legit:thumbup:

PS I am looking at the old shape LCR!

The bit high lighted in red is WRONG mine will quite comftably pull away form a LCR with remap, FMIC & turbo back exhaust and keep gaining on it until it has gone well off the clock :o, and the furby is still nicer to drive with the power increase, im sure jason will be along soon to back me up on this one, also if you are trying to compare a LCR/furby to a

Nice, do you know where I can find out more info on it bar talking to Jabba, when you say older guy I got the picture of some OAP dribbling as he is driving, no way I would buy his car off him the seats probably stink off ****

A simple remap see's you nudging that sort of power ;)

You will be hard pushed to get 275bhp with just a "simple" remap , CAI, full exhaust with sports cat + more and you may get close , you've only got to ask the Octy VRS owners what they've done to get 250bhp (yeah i know they start from a lower bhp figure) but at the end of the day an M5 is still going to whip the *** of the LCR

Awesome GTI Store UK - Rolling Road

some RR figures for LCRs on Awesomes RR

lol that sounds like mr cooper :D

Cant remember his name mate, but spoken to him a couple of times. A nice old guy with grey hair and glasses. Always wears a "Biggles" type leather jacket :)

no offence mate but john reads this forum quite alot, and some how i dont think he would sell the car anytime soon, as he has now mooved on to racing motorbikes in it as he has run out of cars to play with

Hi Luke, I know you guys are working on the hybrid but yet to see any official prices posted etc for the fabia to take it to 225BHP and around 375lb. I cant beleive you can pull away from an LCR that has been tuned. Are you sure the LCR wasnt stuck in 4th:confused:

Anyroad I havent decided whether or not too tune the furby up or go for the LCR I m going to have to come down and speak to you guys / Allard for power to

Tell me about fiddling with cars, I cant stop fiddling with cars or women but women by far are my favourite form of fiddling and from years past

ps if you put "leon cupra r ihi" in google images it will bring up some piccys of mr coopers car

Thanks luke - will have a look at

Either way, the comments about not keeping up with a turboed petrol or an M5 still hold ;)

Even if you hit 200+ whp genuinely you still wont keep up with those cars.

The LCR will be tunable to high levels for sure, fuel economy won't be the best but you can get really high power and decent torque too.

I'd have a look on SCN to find out which engine is the most suitable to hit the kind of level of power you are after. However don't be surprised if you'll need an uprated clutch, some handling mods, better brakes, different turbo, and possibly engine internals, if you are going for proper big numbers.

On that engine though the potential is much larger with less money spent, no doubt about it.

  • Author

I tend too agree on the LCR tuning is loads cheaper for the power gains, whereas as already stated the furby needs alot of new toys to take it up.

The answer is a factory 4WD 200+ BHP diesel leightweight that would do me niceley but there arent any!

Thanks for all the comments will check back in later - got to go shopping :(
