Add-on's

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Getting my vRS sometime towards end of March but have been offered a few add on's. Anyone got any views on getting the paint/upholstery finish; Gap Insurance and Extended Warrenty. It adds about a grand onto the cost which I wouldn't mind but it would be good to get views on whether all/any of it was worth it.

:D

Welcome to briskoda bigbrowndog!

If it's brand new don't bother with the extended warrenty, If you are keeping it more than 3 years then think about extending it near the tiime. GAP insurance, I've never used it, it's a good idea but only if you end up using it (which i hope you wont need to).

The paint/upholstery finish (i take it you mean Supaguard) don't know how much they want for it, but you could do it yourself with similar products for less (halfords sell a teflon upholstery protector that is quite popular)

Welcome Bigbrowndog

I too am due to get my vrs in march. I havent taken any of the extras you've mentioned. As Rooboy says gap insurance is only good if you need it, so dont crash, and extended warranty can be done at a later date if you think you need it.

As for the supagaurd or whichever your dealer uses, the normal price for them to do it is usually

Re: Supaguard etc. I'd sooner save the money and buy some decent car care products than spend money on one of the 'paint protector' finishes. As long as you keep a good layer of wax on the body then you'll be fine. There are plenty of threads on Briskoda about paint care, so I'm not going to push you towards one product or another, as many people have been successful with many different products.

Oh, and Welcome to Briskoda!

Thanks to everyone - doesn't sound like any of the add-on's are worth it at the moment. May think about the extended warranty closer to when I need it. Bits are falling off my Citroen now so March can't come soon enough!!

GET GAP GET GAP!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had done. When I killed my Hyundai Coupe I was gutted as I had to start all over again with the car hunting thing (not too bad as I did get the Octy vRS) It's fine and dandy saying don't crash I didn't really want to but add one slippy snake pass and et voila one smashed coupe and a really sore Shogun. Just my 2P worth

GAP

Is a must have on a car like that.

for

GAP insurance came as part of my loan insurance (wouldnt use a finance co EVER again), so worth having i think.

As for the others, forget them, spend the extra money on stuff for the car, or keep it in the bank ;)
