IIRC...LCR has the bigger K04 turbo...bigger MAF..uprated fuel pump....not sure if it uses bigger injectors.

In the LCR it is fitted with an Oil cooler too ;)

What! We dont have one as standard? :(

can these parts just be bolted on then without much messing?

Well there is that or get a remap done to similar levels.

Basically, yes - you'll need a custom remap afterwards though.

Nope.

The LCR has a small one fitted at the front of the engine. If you look at the front end of one you'll see a slot between the number plate and the "S" badge - thats the inlet for the cooler ;)

The LCR used the BAM 225 engine, the vRS is the AUQ 180 engine. Very different beasts, and it's not all straight swap bold on stuff.

ah, didn't think it would be straightforward!

Forgot to say LCR also has strengthened internals...same engine as an Audi S3.

To make the vrs the same spec a Cupra r you'll need about 3k as

LCR has 2 side intercollers

bigger injectors

4 bar regulator

3" maf

k04 turbo

brembo clipers

recaro interior

18" alloys

6 speed gearbox

Better suspension set up

You can cheat on some bits as fitting frt intercooler, koni or sim, and second hand stuff but your still looking min 2-3 k fitted before the vrs can take on stage 1 LCR @ 265hp

may as well just buy a cupra then.

don't think the brembo's are necessary though, I used to have a fiat coupe 20vt and the brembo's on that were rubbish! Purely cosmetic I think, as are the wheels and interior. Incidentally, an original recaro interior new is the thick end of 2k on it's own! Suddenly makes a second hand Cupra look like a bargain.

The cupra R does seem like a bargain now, but 3 years ago they were still dearer than most. Then the new hatches started to appear and the prices dropped but at the time could'nt stretch to an R so settled for RS which i Love, but somtimes when i price upgrades i think i should've waited a year or so and got the better of the 2

may as well just buy a cupra then.

I promise you the Brakes on the Cupra R aren't rubbish :)

maybe they sorted them then, the coupe was a pretty old design to be fair.

It would be interesting to find out what the standard LCR is like compared with a re-mapped vRS. My only, brief, encounter with one seemed fairly equal as far as acceleration was concerned .

Standard LCR is equivalent to a Jabbasport 1.8 Remapped Octy. At high speeds the LCR decides to take leave it comfortably though. Short bursts and smaller turbo from the Octy mean quicker spool up and can get away quicker. But once the turbo winds up on the LCR, it pulls it back again.

There so evenly matched...

I made a review against the remapped Leon Cupra, (same engine & lighter)

Leon Cupra VS Leon Cupra R - SEAT Cupra.net

How many LCR's have you driven?

I'd suspected so. As you say the small turbo spools up quickly. I would say that's an advantage on the road, even if the maximum power is limited.

As an aside, my re-mapped car gives excellent fuel consumption -and seems to be improving as the engine gets more miles on it. On the motorway (or the A-road) commute it often shows an average of ~40mpg on the trip computer at the current time. It used to manage that only in warm weather.

I've not driven and leon's.... why?

I have worked for Seat, and driven a few Cupra's and Cupra R's. In my opinion the vRS feels slightly quicker than the standard cupra and has a nicer looking interior. But the Cupra R as mentioned is a fair bit quicker when the turbo is on full song. My mate has a cupra R 225 and it does feel much stronger in the power delivery once fully wound up.

Its worth noting that for those of you who have said u have had encounters with a cupra R that it could of been a 210bhp. The 225's didnt come out untill 2003. Obviously the vRS will compete more easily with the 210 and will be more evenly matched

Test drive a 210 and a 225. They feel the exact same in all areas... Then once remapped there the exact same.

It's just that you questioned the Brembo's (LCR's brakes) Which there one of the best brakes around for a hot hatch.

Ah right, thats interesting. ive only ever driven the 225 Cupra R. Would of assumed there would of been a noticable amount of performance difference between the two, but obvioulsy not
