Why does it happen?

Featured Replies

My old Fabia did this during a small period of its life...

I'm talking about suddenly you find the buttons for the electric front windows have reversed, so the right hand button moves the passenger window and vice versa. It bloody confused me as I stopped in Tesco's and tried stopping the car and re-starting several times, no luck.

So I gave up and went shopping, came back and it had sorted itself back the right way round. So, why does it do it, and is there an easy way of making sure it bloody doesn't do it again? This is only a small annoyance but when these start to amalgamate it can get me :D

Cheers

no idea why it does it jason are you treating it nicely?

Jason, are you upside-down again ? :sofahide:

or up a tree? :D

oh... I can't be bothered to lower myself to your levels... :P :D

No - its just a weird electrical glitch I reckon that surfaces every now and then... Same model car, same year, probably same "batch", so same setup I guess.. c'est la vie.

Jason it's obvious,

The car's scared of you :D .

Or is this the start of strange things to come............

Maybe pay back time for killin it's silver brother..........

Steve

Either that or it is haunted by visions of Jason trying to remove the tints with a pneumatic drill :D

Oh, a Fabia vRS with the same problem? So not just a thing with my particular one then? A small comfort I guess.

As I'm not supposed to suggest that this is evidence for alien abduction in the My Maintenance section I'll just suggest you check the clock as well.

I had the same problem this Thursday on a Fabia comfort TDI.

Cleared when I operated the window switch on the passenger door.

I have seen this problem before on a Pug 405, that was caused by dirty switch contacts on one switch. Perhaps the Fabia suffers with the same kind of problems.

If it can be cleared by rebooting then accept it as it is. Sometimes the one touch on my car's front windows works correctly and at others the windows go down then back up part way. It all adds character to the car. :(

PS Why has my Google 'window' got hearts in it? Is it a subtle reminder to write the card before I go to bed? ;)

Jason,

In my old Silver VRS the window used to go up then just as it was getting to close, would then go all the way down again on one touch. Used to drive me bloody mad. It then suddenly stopped...then did it again...WEIRD. Maybe Silver Skoda's are possessed by the devil....Hmmmmmm

Andre, mine does the same! And it's not silver!

Really

Mine does it too...I blame the second rate VAG components... ;)

Rob.

If the multifunction display ever says "Check AE35 unit", just get out of the car and run for your life!

I was in the dealer the other week and the postman was telling the service manager that when he changes CD on his autochanger his passenger window opens!!!!

I have the problem with the one touch not working occasionally - thought I was going mad and it was just me but you lot have removed my insanity fears.
