Symphony CD Player

Featured Replies

Hi. I've been having a problem with my symphony cd player in my VRS recently. When I start the car up, The stereo comes on and the cd player makes a 'ticking' noise, then comes up with ERROR and goes onto radio. Then I press the CD button and it playes fine?

Anyone had this problem and if so, is there anything I can do?

Thanx. Luko.

I have a similar (long standing) symptom on my car CD player (a Sony). I think it's to do with the player not recognising the CD format. I make up my own CDs at home on an Audio CD burner (as opposed to a PC) and my ICE doesn't recognise about 50% of these. If I copy my home-made CD onto another using my PC then everythings' fine.

Hope this helps. :)

None of my CDs are CDRs. They are all original copies. I wondered if the laser had got dirty. Any idea how hard it would be to get to it?

it might just be a becuase of the cold weather we are having??

Yes could be having trouble because of condensation on the disk,

I agree with the cold weather condensation theory , have you ever looked at and felt a CD that been in the car all night? Nearly always freezing cold and covered in condensation! This could be your problem. Try it with a CD youve had indoors on a cold morning and see if this eliminates the problem.

I had a new radio/cd fitted into the Fabia vRS before I sold it. It was replaced under warranty as the single cd in the unit had failed. this controls/plays the cd's in the player under the seat, so I was told........................no more problems.

I get the ticking sound when there's a CD in the single slot in the head unit.Even after ejecting the CD,it still ticks intermittently for a few hours afterwards before shutting up.The next time I put a CD in the slot, the ticking returns.

The 3 year warranty runs out in march this year & I don't know if it's worth taking it to the dealer or just putting up with it.

Take it to a dealer... they are expensive to replace yourself
