Owners of older Furby vRS's.....

Featured Replies

Hey up all,

The missus has finally decided that she is getting shut of the CTR :orb_sad:.

The cost of running the CTR really does show itself when our other car is a Furby vRS.... Tax almost double.... Insurance almost double.... Fuel costs almost double.....

We're getting married next year so she's decided to sell the CTR and then downsize and get a car in the region of around

Bought mine 04 16k Dec 14 06. Did tons of research - main fault seems to be door seals (usually rear) but dealer had already spotted this.

Paid

2003 on an 03 plate (one of the first in the country) just passed 70k  (17k on the clock when I bought it)

[TEMPT FATE MODE] A few issues of late with Coolant Level Sensor but nothing major [OFF\]

I've got a 04 plate with 40k on the clock. Bought it 5 months ago (36k on clock) in a private sale for

Your catching me up!!

sept 03 53 reg... 82k (remapped for 70k)

Reliability has been great.. anything that has gone "wrong" i would class as wear and tear and down to my general abuse

wishbone bushes

set of brakes all round

MAP sensor (was due to the FMIC i had)

will probably need a clutch this year.. but as above its been remapped for most its life.

Thanks for the responses guys...... Having only had the Furby for 9 months i was aware of a lot of the problems with the newer cars just wasn't sure about any issues with the older cars.

It may well be some time before it's all decided what car she's going for and will probably change countless times in the process. All she knows at the minute is that it'll be a diesely wiesely and so far is between the Furby vRS, Leon FR/Cupra or the Ibiza FR/Cupra....... You never know we might have a "Mrs WaveyDavey" username on here some time soon. :)

Cheers

Dave.

Px/ed my 53 VRs just before Xmas, 47K on the clock, only problem I had was some thieving git nicked it when it were 10days old, & spontainous shattering of the rear window, other than that it were a great car..........

Actually keep this quiet but, not sure the new one is as good.....

Your catching me up!!
;):D

That'll be the 110mile a day commute to Cardiff & back, however this should slow down a little now due to me working in Bristol for the forseeable future.

I am beating you ;)

And no problems really (runs off to touch wood) a couple of sensors a seatbelt not retracting, doorseals re done and thats about it, all during the warranty period, and similar to you I was remapped from 10k and a few more mods above remap too, runs sweet as a nut!

03 (August) Vrs

Known problems so far:

Seat base needed renewing, door seals, wishbone bushes, gearbox mount (grease fix do a search, all ok now), mooing brakes ( i put up with this), condensation sometimes (see leaky doors), power steering sensor can cause problems, with mine I just restart the engine and the light goes out.

Dealers usaully very good however servicing can be expensive shop around.

Thats about it, a few rattles around the door cards, i will get these fixed, very temperature dependant due to the grade of plastics used.

Cheers

Tony

Sept 04 had it since new, 24k on the clock (not much I guess?) but driven quite hard. No problems at all except front passenger side inner door seal keeps coming loose even after a replacement.

mine is an '05 and I have just booked it in for it's 70k service!

problems fixed under warranty:

new gearbox at 40k (an anomaly apparently, no-one else on here has had the problem I had)

EGR valve at 60k (was blowing oil out of it)

NOT under warranty: (which really ****ed me off!)

control arm bushes on the front suspention, these are being fixed (at a cost of £130) at the next service

that's about it! overall very reliable, still drives like new (no re-map on mine) never even had to top it up with oil!

and it's for sale! (£8k) check out the for sale section for the details :)
