Featured Replies

A had this and got the tb cleaned and just done a scan and all clear. The tb was cleaned months ago.

Its a strange one with no silver bullet fix.

Wow! I really wouldn't be driving that if I were you. That's the vac feed for the brake servo, so with no vacuum you have no servo assistance, and your brakes will be virtually impossible to operate if that hose pops off. Get that hose changed asap mate.

Looks like you've found the source of your vacuum leak though!

I didnt drive it anywhere like that.

Like I said, I patched it up with some silicon hosing and hose clamps. A small length of silicon hose over the pipe with a clamp then pushed over the check valve and clamped on, its not going anywhere.

When I discovered it, the pipe was literally just hanging onto the check valve, a bit longer and I think it would have come off, causing like you say, brake problems!

Thought Id check back and post an update.

Took a good look at all the vacumm lines the other day and found this:

boostleak002.jpg

Its the line that runs from the inlet manifold, under the air intake tract and back to the brake servo.

I patched it up with a hose joiner and some hose clamps for the time being.

I cleared the code and have had nothing return yet , it passed the MoT over the weekend with the emissions well within tolerance, so maybe it is cured?

Like I said before, this code has been caused by many different things on different cars, so its a case of checking all your boost hoses and vacuum lines.

I found these pipes crack on mine aswell the other day. had them replaced when it was in getting the 17705+17545 looked at. that seems to have cleared the fault since then. 70 miles later still good (fingers crossed).

hopefully this will put an end to the problem passed on from the previous owner :thumbdwn:

In my efforts with the same problems I have changed most things, MAF, N75, Forge 007, MAP hose, CAM oli breather hose etc etc, . Last two things I did were technical bulletins from the VAG and I know one has been mentioned at the beginning of the post, firstly is the temp sensor that sits in the plenum chamber by the TB, rubbish 'o' ring can leak, composite plastic rubbish can crack, also the diode can pop on the element p.n 058905379, secondly is the intercooler hot side pipe has been revised, couldnt see any obvious differences other than revision letter from A to C but hey,
