notice and apologies from bengie

Featured Replies

sorry to be an absolute pain in the ass guys but i am goimg to have to pull out of the ABD turbo inlet group buy and maybe even the national meet on 24th.

i have had a major incident with the love of my life, hate to say this but i have broken my octavia and it is currently un-drivable.

i misjudged a round about and hit the kerb (luckily a 45 degree kerb and not a square one) at about 70mph. haven't had the chance to have a proper look yet due to weather but the front right corner is now sitting like its been lowered about 45mm, when you try and drive it the wheel rocks back and forth and the tyre is currently rubbing heavily on the shock(where the spring seats on the shock) due to the shock being bent.

if anybody has directions on where i could get a new drivers seat with an airbag(due to fact that it went off - and god damn they're loud when they go off) in the sides as skoda want at least

Commiserations :(

Bengie,

Hope you came off better than your car?

Bengie.

Hope you get it all sorted out soon.

We seem to be having a glut of bumps at the moment.

Im sure it wont cost much to fix....

just had the car apart and it seems that i havent really broken anything , amazing really considering the force. that corner still sits about 10mm lower than the other side but i am measuring it against the wing so that could affect it. the drive shaft is a bit dented where it hit the steel of the engine bay, luckily no damage to that :-) i still need two new alloys and a new drivers seat(unless you can get a new airbag fitted into the seat) so if anyone can help me here it would be much appreciated.

You could get a decent aftermarket seat for a lot less than

Wheres all the electronics when you need it eh?...

comiserations, glad you were not hurt, and the car didnt roll.

hope you get back on the road soon :)

A replacement side airbag is

(Only the Elegance and L&K have side airbags).

Not true - WRC has side air bags

You keep him right Gaz :buttkick:

Suggest you take the car to a professional for a look over before you go to far, estimates are free. The reason I say this is that hitting a kerb at 70 with sufficent force to blow the air bag & trash the tyres I am amased the damage is so light. Its going to be a waster to spend money on the car only to find its out of square. If its not driveable borrow a couple of wheels & get a second opinion. The fact that the car is 10mm lower one side must point to something being adrift & the drive shaft hitting the engine bay means parts have moved further than they are intended to.

If you are not fully comp & the car is out of square dont panic as it can be got over if its not too bad with a jig & someone who knows what they are doing. My old Scoob had a bent inner wing due to a hard landing the car was jigged to be perfectly square at the wheels, the strut was 1/2 degree out at the top but the car drove perfectly.

If you have problems and are in Hampshire I know a man with a jig who can take a look, PM me if you need it

As far as parts go just get your local yellow pages and trawl through your local salvage yards, try the Internet & also the Exchange & Mart carries a big section on Salvage. With wheels if possible try & see them on the wreck to get an idea of what they have been through

Bengie, if your not having the ABD can i have it instead and if so who do i need to contact !!

Also regarding your seat when i was at JABBA yesterday brian was putting into his estate the seats (front&rear) from a golf that are a direct swop no mods needed that he brought very cheap i think he said he had paid

I forgot to mention Brian will be selling the wheels of his estate as well.

got wheels on way,

The side airbag price is from the dealers' price list - although it might just have changed since Sep 03.
