Passenger side rattle

Featured Replies

Recently I had to drive my 06 combi on a non-paved road (1st time), not that rough of a road either. Beside the front suspension sounding like the springs were put in the wrong way and twanging and thunking every few yards (ARB?), the front passenger side door card seemed to start acting up. Now, every day for the last 2 weeks I have an obtrusive plastic creaking sound from the passenger door area. :thumbdwn:

I thought it might be the power window carriage that loosened, but toggling the window sounds just fine. I can't recreate the sound when the car is stationary either - only under way on normal roads.

For under 6000kms the car is really becoming rattly and creaky quickly, but the door is now the most annoying sound. :(

Has anyone had this before and if so, how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance,

It is probably the piece of trim at the side of the dashboard end of the glovebox that meakes a creaking noise....they all do that sir:eek: Open your glovebox and remove the side trim and see how you get on.

The creaking is very temperature dependant and is a pain to be honest but when the car has reached operating temperatures most of the interior creaks go away. Its the relativly poor plastics that Skoda seem to use.

:iagree:

This happened to me after removing some leaves from inside the heater fan. The D-shaped piece of plastic is held on by a number of metal clips that slide into grooves on the D-shaped bit and then clip into holes on the side of the dash. These clips can jump out of their grooves when the D-shaped bit it fitted back onto the dash and make a heck of a racket when you drive on bumpy roads. So like tonystop's said, take this bit off (open the glove compartment and you can push it off with your hands) check all the clips, and then put it back together making sure all the clips fit into all the correct holes. This should hopefully fix the problem!

I found that much of the source of rattle on my vRS was from the seatbelt clips rattling against the centre console where the handbrake is...a couple of discrete black stick-back foam pads latr, no problem!!

Does it rattle when you shut the door? it does on mine.

my speaker also rattles under load with bass on that side so could be the same thing causing the problem i.e the speaker is not fitted correctly?

I will do that, thanks.

Oh, the doors are mostly quiet when I shut them too- shut with a thud. However, when the window is open on either of the front doors it is embarassingly sloppy sounding. 1970's Chevrolet embarassing.

I think thats normal as mine does that...what is frustrating is that the drivers side windows rattles when it's shut and when the road has ruts in it or when you drive over cats eyes in the road. Maybe they can tighten the windows? to stop them rattling

As well as our lovely roads. You will never eradicate squeaks/rattles etc no matter what you drive, and I mean no matter what you drive. IF our roads were made of dead smooth flat tarmac then yes, but they're not.

Crank up the stereo I say:thumbup:
