Opinions - about to shake on this

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

After umming and arring about several cars, I think my excellent local dealer has made me an offer which is worthy of serious consideration. He's offering me Glass's book on my 04 year MK1 Octavia Elegance 130BHP against a new unregistered Octavia vRS TDi with Jumbo, dual climate, 18"alloys, rear sensors, cruise for

Have you checked the Glass's price is correct on Vauxhall's site (owners - value my car)?

That does seem like a decent price for the new car though , as it's about 19800 list.

They're offering £7000 on my Octavia - 34,000 miles.

Dave.

Sounds not bad.

Ideally, I would have liked to specify maxidot (for some reason, according to the opinions on here!) and light sensitive mirror and rain sensitive wipers, but I don't think they are retrofittable by the dealer? The dealer is retrofitting cruise for me as a deal closer. I was surprised by the jumbo box, I was expective something jumbo in size, it's only big enough for a can of coke and a mars bar  .

I reckon I will retrofit a Skoda Sat Nav system (off eBay perhaps?).

Thanks,

Dave.

Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide :D

The Maxi Dot and Light Sensor aren't really retro fittable.

If your happy with the deal - GO FOR IT.

You have nice spec and colour (good for resale in a few years) the TDI which is kinder on insurance vs. the TFSI and fuel of course AND the 'deal' you have seems fair. :D

Finally, I believe the vRS TDI is fast becoming Skoda's new 'cool' car, ;););) taking over from the Fabia vRS. My dealer, with whom I have an order for a vRS TDI with delivery expected mid March reckons they are outselling th vRS TFSI by 5 - 1 !!

Hmm, that install looks like the kind of thing that would be dead easy once you've done it before, if you see what I mean :)

I wonder if I was to buy one from eBay, the dealer would fit it for me for a small fee :rubchin:

Dave.

Quite possibly. Failing that there may be another member in your neck of the woods who would do it for you.

It's not at all difficult.

That would be cool, I'm on the Wirral if anyone can help :). The instructions mentioned some additional complexity regarding the 2007 model year's inclusion of an aux jack in the jumbo box, that kind of scared me :)

Dave.

Dodgy,

I'm on the Wirral but sadly no use to you at all regarding fitting anything.Perhaps a tax disc holder, but no more!

That sounds like you have a good deal. Nice one!

Will keep an eye out for you....should be getting my vRS around the same time.....but not holding my breath!

Yes they do come with mats already.

Really now that is interesting. I wanted mats to be included. And they were, vRS ones I was told........Well the sales person "thought" they would be vRS ones. As I say they were included, but on my invoice they are listed as a freebe to me and a £35 'cost' to them!

Let's hope they are special mats and not some:

(Salesperson saying)..... "Oh go on then, I suppose I can.:(

(Salesperson thinking at this point) Oh Yes, I'll throw in the mats as well....they are there anyway and........I will also make it look like he's getting a slightly better deal than he thinks he is.:)" type of deal.

Yep, mats are included. It's got the 'vRS pack' on it, too, I think that means rear parking sensors and rear electric windows as they are fitted.

Dave.

Didn't hear of that option pack when I purchased.

Windows are normally electric front only unless you opt for the jumbo/climate/elecwindows 'pack'. Parking sensors are an option on their own too.

Still not a problems for yourself....sounds fine.

The mats......vRS specific or Octavia generic?

Ta,

I think they're vRS specific mats.

Dave.

DOH!...............ask for a full tank of fuel then:P

I think they tend to throw in £15 worth as a matter of course...admittedly not a full tank!

Congratulations on sorting the car. It's time to relax a bit....unless you start going over the options list again....:) !

That is a rather neat solution to the trailing wire problem. Quality idea....must admit that would never have occured to me.

Given this lack of technical or lateral thinking on my part, You will be delighted to hear that I will not be offering to come and assist you in 'opening' your dashboard. LOL

Scotch will do for me however! :)

I would do it for you Dave but it's a little too far to travel.

I tried running my Road Angel Radar Warner in the dash top cubby. It seemed a good place as it wouldn

Hehe, thanks Stu :) The dealer asked me to email him the link to your site with the instructions, so it looks like he might do it, though he reckons the GPS antenna should go in the back so the headlining has to come out. Do I just search eBay for MFD2 units that have the Skoda logo on power up? I've seen some variants like "c" or "b" etc, anything to avoid on this 2007 model year car?

Cheers,

Dave.
