1.3gli and the thermostat

Featured Replies

hi guys,

im realatively new to this forum but not to skodas, i've been driving mine for 2 years now and love it. its an Sreg 1.3gli felica estate with a 55kw engine has done near to 80,000 miles and seems pretty good in almost every aspect. i recently forked out for a full service in the hope that i could continue to drive it for years to come!

However, recently my temperature gauge has been behaving in a somewhat eratic manner, within 5 minutes of driving it goes to just above 110 then lowers to the middle, this has almost always been the case but now it continues to jump up and down for the duration of the trip. Having very little knowledge of cars im stuck as to whats going on. oil and water are both at normal levels, please could someone with knowledge and experince on this subject please help me?

The guage sometimes plays up too, you could try changing the temp sensor.

I did try this on my 1.6, as well as the thermostat, but didn't fix it - so must be an electrical fault. Hy garage has confirmed the engine temps are ok with a laser device, so I m not worrying at the mo! It has a mind of its own these days!

thanks very much, thats certainly made me more happy to take it up a motorway again. No longer terrified it may blow up! I think i'll take it into the garage and see whats's going on. Cheers

Yeah best to check with the garage before you get to my stage - which is not pay any attention to it!!

Hello

The most common fault and the fault that causes most grief is the faulty thermostat in the skoda 1.3 only!! and its not expensive. However get a garage to com firm this on there computer before you hand over
