MPG - Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

My VRS has done 1500 miles now and each day the engine feels better. However on my journey to work in a morning of about 7 miles of stop start traffic i manage about 35mpg, but i am rather heavy in second gear! I recently took a trip to sheffield from leicester and took an average speed of 90mph and got 54mpg, that includes playing with a 205 1.9GTi (How slow are they? LOL.

That does surprise me a little: I'd never get 54mpg average on a 90mph test drive. If you get that, you're either doing overly well, or I haven't pushed mine hard enough to fully "loosen up" (although it does have over 7000 miles)

I certainly hope not for my sake!

Just went for a nice sunday afternoon tootle round the Peak District - looked very nice in the snow and sun. ABout a 70 mile round trip, some pottling behind sunday drivers, some caning it when conditions allowed, returned 56.8MPG according to the trip computer, I was rather impressed!

On another note, I hadn't noticed really before, having mostly driven on the flat lands, how flat the engine is before the turbo kicks in. Coming off hairpin bends going up steep hills, there is absolutely nothing happening at low revs!

the charge at my works for first service is around

I was amazed today about how much extra fuel you can get in the tank by using the air release button thing. I'd read on here about other people using it to 'brim' the tank, but never tried it before. I got about 47 litres in before I got bored of the 'squirt, press, wait, squit..' routine, and someone else pulled up behind me at the pump. How much have other people got into theirs? Usually I just stop when it cuts out the first time, but the difference must be over 10 litres from that point to what I put in today!

Can filling this much cause any problems?
