MPG - Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

What MPG are you guys and girls getting out of your Fabias? (I know this will vary depending how much much you use the loud pedal :Yikes: )

Thanks in advance potster

Mines now done 2000 miles and my 25 mile trip to work averages 48-50 mpg if I'm good, 42-45 mpg if I'm bad

I can get 400 miles out of it before the light comes on, if I use the air vent thing

i get about 43-44 mpg on driving school lessons. :P

1200 miles and I'm averaging 45mpg. Returned 51 mpg coming back from Buxton on Monday and that included a lengthy spell at 90 on th M1. I told it should get better with age as the engine beds in!! I'm sure if you drive it really carefully you could get the combined figures of 55mpg.

These figures terrify me! I managed 72.3mpg (yes that was the average) today at a cruise set 60mph between Chester le Street and Billingham. Tailwind. On the way back into a headwind at the same speed I got 63.1mpg.

Around the doors at an indicated average of 27mph I get an average mpg of 55.8mpg.

Bloody gas (ok diesel) guzzling little greedy furbies you lot drive...

Yours a 110 then Mr Lucky?

My 25 mile drive into London to work gets me about 45-50mpg and the journey home gets me 40-45mpg. On a M-way, I get about 50-60 depending on how much traffic I 'play' with! :D

Yawn.... 55mpg usually, 49 average = 600miles on a tank :P

(after 10k miles)

Forgot to mention that mine is after nearly 9000 miles

mines going in for its first service on saturday.... :thumbdwn:

Let us know how much it cost then mate. Will be interesting to see what it's like compared to the old 16v

the charge at my works for first service is around

:eek: :Yikes::eek2::jawbig:

Is that every 10K miles?:eek::eek:

My first service in the TDi was

Colin, no, the 20 is more expensive, the 30 is the same as the 10, the 40 is a real biggie, repeat until sold :D

I'm getting over 55 if I behave like an OAP. I get approx 60mpg on the way back from work which includes a small amount of queueing at roundabouts, and the most of the driving between 40 and 60 at constant speed.

Coming up to 7000 miles now.

The 40K service is a massive one - been quoted

I tend to average 47mpg on the 17 mile race to work each morning and as low as 38mpg on the stop and start journey home.

Still loads better than the 21mpg in the Octy.

My journey downhill (250m above sea-level to sea-level) normally gets me close to 60mpg, if I keep off the juice, but the journey back up-hill always uses more, so normally register no more than 45mpg, even when being careful... Generally, at leisurely motorway pace, say 80mph, mid 50s is not a problem, and when Jabba'd not that much worse. (damn that playing! )

should point out this is PD100, not 130....

If I goto my nottingham office (60 miles away up the m1) I get 55mpg @ about 80ish

If I goto my office (10ish miles away) I get 34 ;) but I do enjoy my journey into work :) :)

Long runs are great when you get 6ompg from it.

Tavia, yes mine is the humble 110 tdi old chap. I am genuinely shocked by the low mpg figures you chaps are quoting.

My Octavia must be a good bit heavier than these tiny little furbies yet they seem to chew through diesel at a horrific rate. Is it because they are so tempting to drive quickly?

Wish I had one...

It's so hard not to play.

I have days were I try to drive like like a granny but the temptation to play just takes over.

I find the temptation usually appears in the form of a BMW or a Saxo.

The Furby's are PD engines too where as at Octavia is not. In an Ambiente 90, the car got 67mpg whereas myself following behind got only 59mpg.

On the other hand went out for a drive today and got 51mpg, which includes heavy city centre traffic but lots of country roads. Got stuck behind a tractor though. Why didn't Massey Ferguson build a tractor that can do more than 15mph!

It's a pity I didn't have my camera because it was a really good drive, and it's on one of my favourite roads with stunning views. Fab-ulous time

It's actually very close to Ingrams and St. Andrews Skoda dealerships so anybody wanting a 30 minute test drive route :)

The tdi 110 is widely known as the most economical TDi VAG has produced, but because of demand and the competitors playing catch-up they then introduced the PD range which massively boosted torque.

This is evident by the fact that the pd100 has more torque than the early 110tdi. However, this change is at the expense of economy - but we're not talking much here.
