do you think they will be replaced ? and if not what rights do i have ?

If they are on the same side have you run over somthing, a bottle perhaps or pot hole. I'm quite sure they wouldn't have fitted them if they were damaged. Good luck with the outcome

like isaid, i have not hit anything i know of and i think i would know with a gash like that - only done 10 miles if that

Whoa!! That looks really bad

Hope it gets sorted no problem and does not screw up the next few days too much.

Out of interet, what on earth is the ground in that last photo. Looks like dead worms.

lol, where i park my car there is a mud patch my rear tyre sits on

could be worms in the mud :)

thats a scary gash in the tyre , i would of thought that if you'd driven over something the rim would have been damaged , but there doesn't seem to be any

you may have a problem to get them to change those tyres though , because they will say you've driven over something on the way home and its not their problem , anyway good luck and take it easy driving back there

if he wont replace i will have to try trading standards or somebody

i know i have not run over/hit anything and as soon as i found out i took it off

:thumbdwn:

 .....That is very very bad.

From the pics, it does look to me like the tyres may have been damaged during fitting.

If so the individual involved needs "seriously shafting" for allowing you to drive away with tyres in such a dangerous and illegal state.

Insist, all the tyres are removed and inspected for damage on both sides, even the ones that may look OK could be damaged on the part of the bead you can't see when fitted.

Good luck.

well ...... i took the day off work and went to the garage first thing (after speaking to trading standards) and they have sent the tyres back to goodyear for them to say weather it was a manafacturing fault, fitting or MINE !!??

the garage say it was not them  , and if it was they would not of let me drive on them.

BUT I KNOW I DIDNT DO IT !!

8000 miles ago i hit a brick on a roundabout and it did similar damage but also dented the alloy and the car lifted off the road so with damage like that to the tyre i think i would of known about it, same route as usual 10 minutes drive.

9 miles and two brand new tyres ****ed

trading standards said it will be very hard to prove the garage did but if im still unhappy after the verdict from goodyear i can get an inderpendant person to look at it ... blah blah ... blah

so im

thanks mate

Richard....dont be put off by what trading standards said.

I'm 100% sure its not your fault, because of the position and angle of the damage to the tyre wall.

Its looks to have been torn apart, not cut like you would expect to find if you had run over something.

Also, if you look at the angle the tyre wall has torn (inside the "D" for goodyear), it certainly looks to be consistant with fitting damage.

Let us know what happens.

bill.

Richard,

Don't forget that you have the photographs as well - aslo make a record of the milage when you took the photographs as the garage would have put the milage on the paperwork, this may be useful in the future. Good luck and let us know how you get on?

thanks for the advice guys

when i took them back to the garage he showed me him fitting and taking a tyre off a rim to try and prove it could not of been done by the machine, i was still unsure.

i was there when he filled the sheets in for goodyear and i had to sign them and he put 9 miles on the sheet for the tyre milage.

so hopefully in a few weeks i will get some good news :o

but i admit it looks bad them both being on the same side of the car, i could of swaped them around before going back but i have nothing to hide

thanks again
