Feeler thread for a Briskoda Stone Henge meet

Featured Replies

Driving past it today, seems a good place to hold a meet. The A303 is not a bad road in places, so long as there are not too many tractors and stuff blocking the way.

Trying to look for other things to do in the area other than look at big rocks stuck in the ground. So any suggestions welcome....

Saturday early to mid April??

Ideas?

Thruxton isnt a million miles from there.

can we do Camping and Chanting in the middle of them :D

Yeah, was just looking at that on things to do in Wiltshire type website.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....I've got a white Cloak and a White pointy hat..............:D

How about dogging?

Don't they like bingo in wiltshire phil?

I know dorset just swapped an ice rink for a bingo hall a few years back :o

Try Longleat, more to do.

If the weathers bad Stonehenge is a horrid place to be

If you want to do the Ancient sites Avebury ring just down the road is a lot better & you can actually walk round the stones, theres also a hill fort close by & I think theres a pub in the village but someone local could confirm that

Didn't know youwere a Jedi knight A.G.

Thirded for an Avebury meet

Avebury would be preferable, don't do the same night as the bikes though ;)

Stonehenge is also bleeding expensive to get into the actual rocks and the cafe's are a rip off :( Not much else to do either when you get there

Okay, will look into Avebury.

Is there a good pub in the area?

There is only one IIRC, right in the middle :)

Accoding to the website we can get a group reduction and walk around the stones for £3.60, which is not too bad.

I doubt I will have to book the pub or anything at this time of year.

In Stonehenge - doesn't that mean we have to sacrifice a virgin?

Two main problems with the Stonehenge idea as I see it:

1- Where the heck are we going to find a virgin?

2- Waste not, want not.....

hehehehe:D

(Bas being naughty....)

Google Maps

Has the location of Avebury

How does Saturday 28th April grab people?

Also Avebury is free entry .. .but the car park is pay and display.....:(

most saturdays are fine by me....got no excuse only live 7 miles away....so any info wanted......just ask and I,ll see what I can do

Would be up for that date in principle, as long as it doesn't clash with my appointment at Jabbasport (as yet unbooked)

If we wanted to do food at the pub they have a car park but it's not all that large.

Oh , and the big car park is free if you have a national trust membership card ;)

I reckon a meet at about 11 for a walk round the stones , followed by a pub lunch and then possibly a drive round including some of the other sites like silbury hill and a couple of the white horses could be a decent day out

Well some people used to stop over for a few days, set up a campsite with a few stages, bands etc. The state then decided that 88,000 people in a place with 2 coppers to look after them and no trouble caused was a real problem, so they sent in the riot squad to prevent nothing happening again.

Brisky Stonehenge festival anyone?

Wasn't quite that simple.....all was fine except for the damage, the mess,( there were no toilets) the drugs, the untaxed, uninsured and unroadworthy vehicles.....also cost local tax payers a fortune as the poll tax rocketed to pay for the police, cleanup etc. etc.

Stonehenge is a real letdown ....the most famous heap of rocks in the world
