Maybe if the VAG group are going to phase out the PD engines (in 2008?) then any new Fabia VRS may have the 'common rail' technology that is supposedly going to replace it ......

I think they are going to be gone by the end of next year and the move to common rail will be during this time. There are too many limitations to the PD engine particularly regarding the pilot injections for keeping the noise down, they can only get one pilot whereas the common rail can do something like 5 or 6. Don't think the emissions are much diferent between the engines, purely just the noise aspect. Would be better to have the common rail, particularly in the vRS, but we shall see...

Some just beat me to it about the Common rail replacement :)

I saw a VW announcement that, common rail will be in 2008.

Another

dealer salesman was at MK last week and was told there WILL be a vRS mid to late 08 , and NOT petrol, but wouldnt give any more away.

biodiesel / electric hybrid, anyone ?

Since Skoda seems to get the VAG's cast off engines , I doubt we would get any new fangled Diesel engine before its been shoved in the Polo first , to skim a few thousand more

Skoda themselves will be building some new diesel engine next year, probably small capacity CR units.

Well, I am not a happy bunny.

My Fabia vRS is a company car, and it's due for change in October 2007 at the end of its three year lease. I love it, and want another one.

But the old Fabia vRS has been discontinued, and there won't be a new vRS until well into next year.

So in October, I wont be able to buy a vRS.

Thanks a million Skoda!

And thanks for launching the Special Edition run out model too, in racing blue, with leather and all the other kit on it too, at no extra cost. They'll all be gone come October. You sure know how to kick a customer when he's down!

Well, that was a moan wasn't it?

But I am now a happy bunny again. The leasing company has ordered me a Special Edition run out vRS, and they are going to sit on it until the end of October for me. Which is nice :)

Maybe, just maybe, they will release the Fabia s2000 onto the road (the Skoda rally concept). With a naturally aspirated 2.0 L engine putting out 280BHP thru 4WD, this would be quick and looks awesome too! Please Skoda please! :D

It might have the body kit, but the engine would not make it popular. It would be unisurable too.

I quite agree but it would be fun :D. Ok if they put a nice diesal engine in then but kept the rest (and got rid of the vinyls of course).

If only part of the body kit was the engine, why didn't they do a furb vRS estate? :(

I will appear in Genev

You dont think youre picking up some radioactivity do you Jon??;)

Spoken to two Skoda dealerships in past week or so. First says, "Yes there will be a Fabia vRS but I can't tell you more". Second says, "Er, don't know if they're doing a vRS but there is a Sport due out shortly, we believe" First one was a Salesman. Second one was Service Manager. I'm inclined to believe the service guy as, when challenged if he couldn't or wouldn't tell me more he looked like a kid caught lying. Suspect he "can't" 'cos he doesn't know. There's certainly a lot of wishing going on here for a vRS; me included but I don't want to wait until mid-2008 - I'll have given up and bought a used XJ8 by then to improve my carbon footprint........that's improved as in made bigger. I'm fed up with the Climate Change hype and dodgy science/lies it's based on.

My Furby was serviced on Monday, (40k miles =

I'll second that one! And basing road tax on CO2 detracts from the real problem. Whatever happened to measuring real pollutants and emissions (yes, including those diesel particulates)?

That would have been awesome! :D I'd fancy converting mine if the cost involved wasn't so high.

Will they be making a mk2 estate? Wouldn't mind seeing what one looks like...
