The New Fabia

Here are the specs for the new Fabia.

1.2 6v 60bhp3-cyclinder 5-speed manual

1.2 12v 70bhp3-cyclinder 5-speed manual

1.4 16v 85bhp4-cyclinder 5-speed manual

1.6 16v 105bhp4-cyclinder 5-speed manual

or 6-speed tiptronic

Diesel 1.4 TDI PD 70bhp3-cyclinder 5-speed manual

1.4 TDI PD 80bhp3-cyclinder 5-speed manual

1.9 TDI PD 105bhp4-cyclinder 5-speed manual

Have i missed something or is the new Fabia not to have a VRS model. The VRS is the one that has captured a new youth market and put it back in the desirable car market. The local well to do unemployed and even my own kids reckon it`s a sweet car and are not fazed by the badge as some older people might be. Not me u understand. Am i confused or is this it?

According to the dealer I was talking to , there won't be a warm fabia until mid 2008 earliest.

Got ya. Kind of what they did with the present model. Early on low key. Later. They let the dog see the rabbit sort of thing.

It took a fair while for the vRS model to appear on each Skoda model, looking back.

I'd expect around an 18-month wait, after the Mk2 is released.

Steve

In latest topgear magazine it ses there is going to be warm petrol version and a warm diesel too.

Prob the 1.4 TFSI (150bhp) and the PD140..?

Doubt they'll put the PD170 in as that will be saved for 'classier' marques...

Just my tuppence... lol

EDIT - also ses 3rd quarter of 2008

From what I've read on here, the PD140 with maybe a bit of map massage is probably a better bet than the PD170 anyway.

you may find it will have the 2.0l fsi as a petrol rather than the 1.4 tfsi (150). same power, cheaper to make as there is no turbo involved.

They should stick the 230bhp version of the 2.0 TFSI in it :D

DON'T make a luke warm hatch again Skoda...make a hot one.

it's the same with every car, ever!

normal cars then a year to 18 months after, a warm/hot one :)

Bang goes your warranty too...

Not with every car!

Saw the release brochure from the world premier today, engines for first models are same as Roomster best diesel 1.9tdi with 105bhp ala Roomster and Octavia. NO Fsi engines for at least a year, sport model will be powered by 1.6 16v polo unit.

First ones for a test drive 2 days ahead of official uk unveiling will be at Knockhill Motor fair mid May.

Hey I'm a brand new VRS owner but won't see my 40's again (some say GOF :grumpy: ) .

This fabia came out in 2000 and the vRS was nowhere to be seen until 2003, so there could be a potential wait on the cards.

Skoda are going back into the WRC with a car they support, so they will have to produce a road going car for the requirement as part of this, hence the current Vrs came about from this`.

I think it will be sooner rather than later, they won't want people changing brands when their cars get older, I keep mine for 4 years and change it, so it should be in just the right time for the new one.

Well thats what I think anyway.

VRs II...at least our sources working in Skoda say it´s really VRs...

They won't put any body kit stuff on until near the end or they will give it away too much, even though that looks like the rear bumper is there already.

If you look closely, you can see the hole for the air inlet for the intercooler on the passenger side of the picture where it is now.

There you go, the Roomster 140Hp TDi and the Fabia 170HP TDi ????

sorry to say but that is hinging!!....fecked through a hedge backwards me thinks!!....looks like they are trying to create a bmw look at the front end!!.....glad ive got an old style RS on order!!

k:)

Looking at the pictures, the two fabias have different number plates, could this be 2 different engines that they are trying, I reckon so.

At leaset these pictures give us a good idea one is on the way.

Good find!

no no no, vRS wont look like that! thats just a kit for the Sport!!! i refuse to beleive its a vRS!!:rolleyes: you can see clearly that the bumpers are just clip on extensions like the old GT!!!!...but that is one pretty large exhaust...sooo maybe its a test mule for the areo dynamics in the rear too with the difuser?

I'd imagine that is the new RS mechanically and certainly the rear bumper. It's on F plates which means it's a test vehicle (that used to mean they didn't have to drive to the normal road laws, not sure if it still does!)

If that was just a bodykit it wouldn't really need to be road tested like that so I guess it is the new RS. I like the rear view but hope they make the front end a bit more aggressive.

Of course it will look better on proper wheels too and I'm guessing they will be 17in as the standard car has 16in wheels on the top spec versions already.

Whatcar reckon it will come with a big variety of interior/exterior paint and decoration options as well as different wheel options: http://www.whatcar.com/news-article.aspx?NA=224494

Well, I can see the inlet hole for the intercooler on this one, so hopefully it's the TDi.

I would bet there will be TDi engine, but which one...
