I disagree; the 'system' will only allow itself to operate with a 2 degC differential. If you try to set greater than this the driver's side overrules the passenger side and keeps the 2 degC difference.

The system in my car, built October 2007, will allow the two sides to be set independently as shown on pages 110/111 of the owners manual. Your system appears to be different. I wouldn't have been impressed with a 2 degree difference.dscf21871vk0.jpg

I have a big dose of indigestion having eaten too much humble pie last night. :o

On my way home from work and stuck in traffic I had a play with the temp controls (whilst climate was set to Auto). You are correct.

I found that if you adjust the driver's side the passenger's side moves with it but if you adjust the passenger's side first they will then move independently and the differentials you have shown in your photo can be achieved.

Sorry folks. :o :O

PS> My Octy was new in March this year so 2007 build (if that makes any difference - probably doesn't).

PPS> Just seen that you did not have yours on 'Auto' - make a difference? I wonder.

Thanks for all your responses on this topic guys

Having more than 2 degrees difference possible, will work for me, I mean her, I mean us ;)

CiderSpace, Cheeky question but how much did you pay for your new motor?

I'm going to tag on the end of this thread as I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these cars, mainly for her-indoors, but as something I can "enjoy" too.

And the Irish do have a thing for diesels so I'll be right at home with one.

If you want to reset passenger side temp to match driver's side simply hold down AUTO button and they realign.

Great fun after a passenger has decided their own temp!

As for "light assist" - the auto-dimming rear-view mirror/auto-wipers/auto-lights were a package when I spec'd mine.

I wouldn't bother with light assist on its own - I have the "day-light running" setting on the lights and when you remove keys/lock the car they go out. Why would you want them off otherwise?

In many countries day-light running lights are mandatory and there is a rumour the EU will mandate europe wide in the next couple of years for safety. It is mandatory on every UK race track I have been on and after all it is good enough for the police/emergency services in the UK.

  • 2 weeks later...

had my tdi vrs now since january, 44k miles a whole lot a fun and some downers,

the dash dotmatrix screen stopped working and the car was out of action due to pressure sensor used by the dpf for 2 weeks. that was mainly due to an incompetent garrage in galway. apart from that love the car eventhough i noticed as well that it uses a good bit of lube oil.

Probably didn't explain properly - the judder isn't in the drivetrain - it's whenusing moderate aceleration in any gear from 1k - 1500 rpm - it's more of a hesitancy - I've booked it in to get the dealer to look at it as I've never had it with any diesel vehicle I've driven before.

BOB THE DOG - Have you tried Simpsons of Colne? They generall have a few VRS's to try. Nice people to deal with... Welcome to Simpsons Skoda they have a Preston branch also
