Strange feeling clutch and accelerator

Featured Replies

Well, I've driven the new Felicia for about 30 miles or so now. Overall I'm very pleased, but have a couple of concerns.

Both the clutch and accelerator pedals feel very spongy. The accelerator can be pressed about an inch before affecting revs, even though it feels like it's getting full throttle. Just need adjusting and oiling the cable or is this an inherent fault and caused by something else? The clutch too is strange - it is spongy and feels like it does not lift back up easily. Both problems are making gearchanges a bit problematic. I'm hoping that oiling the clutch cable and adjusting it will again cure this but anyone else got advice?

Cheers!

the accelerator is usualy just slack in the throttle body. theres a little rubber grommit thingy that the cable goes through, under the engine cover. just pop the clip of and move it along a notch or two.

as for the clutch, not a clue??? the clutch has felt differant on all the skodas i have had.

the clutch can be caused by a few things, most likely to by corrosion on the spline that the friction disc runs along, or could even be that the pressure plate is geting a little worn and has lost it's springyness (if that's even a real word)

Thanks chaps. I'll adjust the throttle cable and see if I can do anything to the clutch cable by oiling it. The pedals do make a creaky noise as they're depressed so I'll grease the bushes there too.

One thing I noticed today was a metallic grinding sound once or twice as I released the clutch from a stand still. My clutch could be on it's way out after a succession of old fogey's driving it like old fogey's do. Are clutch changes difficult on the Felicia (1.6) or comparable with other FWD cars?

Cheers!

it's fairly easy on a felicia... make sure you drain the gearbox oil out before you take out the driveshafts.....

also you need to insert a tool(a socket will do) to support the diff sun gears in both shafts are to come out at the same time.
