quickest way to dispose of a felicia?

Featured Replies

hi,

it's a long story but i am getting a new car and will need to get rid of my felicia asap. please note i am not trying to advertise, i am asking for advice.

since this is my first car, i am not sure what the best way to dispose of her is. she is in good running order (probably needs a new cv joint at some point soon, but in the 2 years i have had her i've replaced battery, starter motor, refurbed alternator, had the throttle body cleaned and got a new thermostat and housing just this month) but has three panels dented and scratched thanks to being parked on the street and other people being useless...

so i am thinking that most people will not be interested in buying her because she looks messy. can i take her to an auction? is it easier to scrap? it seems such a shame to even consider this as i've put a lot of money and effort into fixing problems and it's a car i am really fond of, but i just don't know what you do when you need to get rid of a car quickly. (i can't do SORN, i don't have anywhere off road to put her).

sorry, i am probably freaking out as i am in the middle of moving house and i could have done without this! :(

(eta: the plan was to part exchange her on my bf's mum's new car, but because i am moving i've just sent my v5 off, so i don't expect i can do that now!)

Put it on ebay, bound to get a hundred pound or so.

thanks, i may do if all else fails. it's just that i've never used ebay before and i am not sure someone with 0 feedback is going to do great business. also, stress of organising people to come look at it...

You have a pm

Ebay is definately the way to go. First of all, be absolutely honest and portray yourself as a naive 1st time ebayer. People always understand that you have to start somewhere!

If you must sell quickly, put it on for a 3 day auction. YOu could do a 1 day auction but a few people will miss that. In my experience, by day 3 of a 7 day auction you've got all the watchers you are going to get so it won't reduce the final bid price particularly.

In terms of people coming for a look, I would encourage it but I think you will find nobody bothers. I've sold a car on eBay to a chap who lived about 10 miles away and he didn't bother to come and look.

If you've got time you could up your feedback rating by finding some 99p or less things near to you and near the end of the auction and buying them, then collecting. You should get some quick feedback and you can sell whatever pointless items you buy back on ebay when you've sold the car!

One final thing - don't assume that because ebay is an auction you'll not get a decent price. I once bought a diesel Maestro for
