Octavia 1.8T Sump Guard

That would only be worth buying if it came with all the fixing parts. My (old) price list has that part at £90.82. You would also need 2 retainers at £15.13 each, 7 rivetted caps at £1.67 each, 5 hexagon bolts at £1.12 each, 3 stop buffers at £1.34 each, 3 retainers at £3.21 each and, finally, 2 hexagon socket head bolts at £1.26 each.

I would imagine it would come with the bolts but not the riveted caps Denis - like you say best to check.

It's an uncanny knack that he has. :P

There is a write up on one of these in VW Driver with all parts and costs.

It comes to around

Just a quick query on this, i asked about getting one fitted to my octy VRS at a skoda dealer and was told it was not recommened for uk cars as it was too heavy and had to be factory fiited? Was he talking alot of poo coz i have seen plenty of people on here running one with no problems what so ever.

Yes he was/is.

Why should the weight render it a bad idea only on UK cars?

I was thinking the very same because the whole reason i asked about it was the fact that so many people on here have had them fitted with no problems and had them fitted after they got the car and not factory fitted as i was also told. Thanks for the advice guys much apreciated,be paying a visit to a diffirent dealer me thinks.

I need to get one of these as i have a gouge in my sump from where the previous owner has bottomed it.

Would this need to be removed for fitting a full zaust though as im on the save for a Miltek

Wonder if a dealer would do a group buy....

Think i'll need one when I have my coilovers fitted.

You might find someone like JKM might do a group buy as they do require an air tool to fit the nutserts.

I know a dealer that would do a group buy discount for 10 or more, so I can't see why others wouldn't be amenable.

There was a thread on here where it was discussed in detail a while back.

I don't have my octy MK I any more though, so no longer have the details.

Worth noting that its not an easy DIY fit as you need to have some rivnut type thread inserts added to the car (for which you need a special air powered tool, I believe)

I bought one of these a year agao, never got round to fitting it - bengie has it now (also hasnt, got round to fitting it)

Some recent events may have influenced your decision then Si :P

I'll wager your dealer didn't try that hard.

Yeah the weekends events might have swayed my decision

Just had a call from the dealers, they say they've found the parts but they've checked my chassis number and their not sure if it'll fit my car. Though they say assuming it does fit the fitted price will be £135.

Going to book it in and cross fingers.

No, they lied, fitting isn't included

But fitting will only be

That's a bargain mate.

That's a bargain mate.

Yup, if only i'd got it before losing my sump at the weekend...

Speaking of which, the new sump is now on, new oil & filter.

Car ran fine for 15mins or so last night so fingers crossed it's fine.

Will find out when I take it out for a proper run on Thursday evening.

Glad your all fixed Si
