Octy II vRS Race Blue or Black Magic Pearl

Featured Replies

Hi All ,

Im New to this forum, and just about to buy myself a new Octavia vRs TDI estate. The thing is im in a dilema in which colour car to go for either race blue or black. The thing is i like both colours and can't decide, i was wondering if you guys could help me out with which one you think looks better.

Thanks alot

Rickyt

If you want to look even more inconspicuous than the vRS allows normally, go for black. In my opinion, it looks a tad boring. It is also shows the dirt more. Race blue is a superb colour and gets admiring comments from passers by - especially when it's in the sun. Which, in the UK, happens about twice a year...

By the way, it's a great car.

It's a very subjective issue. On the ad hoc owners register we have here I think Blue is the more common colour.

I have a Mk2 in race blue and had a MK1 in black magic, both look good, though the blue doesn't show up the dirt as much as the black, so you don't have to wash it as often.

However, both colours show up scratches more readily than silver.

I like the race blue but decided to stay with black.

I thought I would change to a blue about six months ago but decided

to stay with black. This is my third black Skoda and don't mind cleaning

it. The wife also has a black Fabia vRS. Also a lot easier to touch up

the odd scratch :)

Both look great.

It's a personal choice.

Nearly went for blue....but stuck with black!

Black does it for me every time:thumbup:

Wish I'd had waited for a blue but silver was there waiting to be driven away so I went with it

Hi there,

Check out post 156 of this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/whos-got-mkii-vrs/50815/11/

Race Blue narrowly ahead of Black and the other colours are also rans. All down to personal preference in the end. One point; Race Blue, and Sprint Yellow are vRS exclusive colours, but you have to really bold to get the yellow.

Me; I'm waitng for a RED vRS TDI Hatch!

Blue looks ok but its too common, Black's my choice. Had a mentioned i had orderd a black estate??

I'm with the blue camp. Always get looks driving through town, even from people driving beemer X5's. And everyone mentions what a great shade of blue it is. And the dirt not as noticeable compared to black. I've had a black fabia and it looked great, but looked dirty as soon as I had driven off my drive. Can't see me having black again unless the deal is good.

Black Kombi with tints, you can't beat it. Silver looks nice and wears the dirt better

than black but, black looks better when clean :)

Blue is very nice once clean.

Blue is very nice once clean.

black all the way........it wil; break your heart to keep clean:thumbdwn:

but once she's shining....

Ive just picked up a blue one and IMHO it is by far the best colour.

If i was Prime Minister id make it law that all cars with more than 190bhp should be Blue.

You have all heard of The Stig

Some say his Skin is Race Blue

Some say his blood turns Race Blue on contact with Oxygen

All we know is He's called The Race Blue Stig:rofl:

Mine is black, the blue is just a little too loud for my tastes, it looks good though.

And if you decide to get tints then it'll look the mutts nuts.

Edit : - Off Topic (sorry) Mater, did you get on ok with the Maxi Dot?

Mine is black and is terrible to keep clean but looking at it in the sunshine just now it looks brilliant. Fairly inconspicuous though, race blue vrs much more of a statement and does look good. Depends on how much you want others to notice I suppose.

Got to be blue, I'm afraid.

I thought long and hard about it, and it came down to black, red or blue.

I really liked the red, but having had a red Scooby, I know just how easily and quickly red can fade.

As for black, my second Scooby was a Catalunya special edition, which came in a very nice pearlescent black. It looked great when it was clean, but awful when dirty.

As I've always like the rally blue colour on the Scooby, and I've seen the downsides of the other two colours, that's why I went with the blue.

In addition, the two attached pictures of the blue estate with sunset glass, was the final indication that blue was the best colour for me.

Bagpuss.

Yes; I don't disagree; but we can't get White here in UK :( :thumbdwn:

I don't understand this - I'm sure it's a myth. I asked the a sales manager of a local dealer what he would have said if I'd asked to order one in white. His response, 'What options would you like on that sir?'.

White is not an 'Officially' available colour in UK! At least according to Skoda's brochures and website its not!

Hiya,

Thanks alot everyone for your views.

I've decided to go with RACE BLUE im affraid.

Also the kind Skoda dealers let me have there demo vRS for a few days, and i loved every second driving the car it was a dream. They took the car back today and i placed the order for one straight away, as i miss it already can't wait to get mine.

I opted for the vRS tdi estate with the following optional extras;-

-jumbo box / dual climate control

- Maxidot

-Cruise control

-Rain sensors / light assist / auto dimming rear view mirror.

Once again thanks alot every one...
