Race Blue Fabia vRS - More Pics

The leather & piping is excellent.

I've already had my say about the LTD Fabia VRs. Those who have bought one will enjoy it for the 12 months or so until the new one comes out and then will regret it I feel. The new model will also be available in 'nice' blue as well but will be streets ahead of the 'old' model.

Forking out £13 k for a car which has had it's day and is being 'tarted' up a little to shift the remaining ones left with no options to be had. Well everyone to thier own.

Mark my words, let's see how many people trade thier 'ltd' Fabias in for the new model when it arrives.

I don't mean to sound like a 'pooper' for those guys who have bought one, not at all, just being realistic cos i've also spent lots of money on mine to try and improve it's original package (warm hatch) to it's current state (hottish hatch) when what I want is a Skoda Fabia hot hatch and that's what the new car is going to be.

Skoda have done thier homework on the new Fabia. The bog standard car is better than the old one. No contest. It has been very well received by the press.

Even though it's looks are a little controversial at the moment, in my eyes it's way better than the old model.

The VRs will be a hit from word go as it's up against tough opposition and don't forget that the current Fabia VRs wasn't aimed at the hot hatch market, but the new one will be.

Roll on next Summer

Bit harsh. I'm sure the buyers knew what they were getting into when buying a ltd edition VRS and therefore will be very happy with the purchase for the lifetime of the car unless sold on.

The new VRS may be a hot hatch and therefore won't be admired by the peoople purchasing the ltd edition and mk1 VRS's. It is most likely (if the above is true--new VRS in hot hatch version) that the new car will be the same as the other hot hatches on the market and will not be as frugal, won't be as comfortable on long runs, doubt will be as cheap, won't be cheap to tax, won't be insurance group 9 (hot hatch --group) therefore cheap to insure etc

not everyone wants to buy a hot hatch when they buy a VRS.

hopefully if they do a variety of engines for the new car there will be a warm hatch and a hot hatch variant depending on engine. this will give the old VRS owners the chance to buy another warm hatch with similar advantages to the mk1 warm hatch VRS

It's not harsh at all. The majority of VRs owners have modified the car (engine & springs etc Jabba roll bar) because the original car just aint what they really expected or really wanted. Obviously that's my opinion, I have one which has gone down that very same route and when the new car comes along (with better build quality & interior) i'll check it out.

There's already a Ltd edition Fabia owner on this forum asking shold he map his car now. Next it'll be roll bar & springs because the cornering is only adequate. That's my point, hardly anybody is happy with the original cars setup.

This idea that the owners of Fabia VRs's bought it for the above reasons doesn't really wash when you consider the hike in insurance and overall cost of the modifications. This forum is absolutely inundated with people wanting to modify the original car for it's drawbacks, yes drawbacks. They may seem like compromises when you buy the original Vrs but time tells it's own tale and it's one of 'wanting more'. Or 'what should have been'.

Hopefully the new car addresses these things in an otherwise brilliant little car. I was bitten by the 'wow, this is a Skoda and it's Diesel' factor. The looks on peoples faces as you pull rapidly away from 30mph with ease. The novelty has worn off with me now.

My point about the Ltd edition is that I feel it's wasted money considering the new car is not long off. That's my thoughts anyway

Precisely. I just want a "regular" car, not as big as a Focus, not as ugly as a M

the new car is too long away - I wanted a car NOW, and the current, Ltd Ed fitted the bill fine. I won't be making any mods, as I fel the car is good enough. And I won't be trading it in as soon as the newer one comes out, becuase I intend on keeping it for a long time.

Precisely. I just want a "regular" car, not as big as a Focus, not as ugly as a Mégane and not as expensive as a VW. A relatively confy ride but with a hot engine capable of driving up the twisty hill roads easily. On top of that I already liked Skoda, and the Fabia is a nice looking car.

Besides, it's doesn't use too much fuel. My neighbour's got a pretty 2000 Audi TT Quattro. Ok, it was useful to get him a nice girlfriend, but now she has to give him a lift everyday, because the Audi is too expensive to use, and he can't even sell it since no one's insane enough to buy that fuel black hole!! :thumbdwn:

Ok, you can have expensive insurances, but still... a regular Vrs here is more than 20k £! A 2.5 Turbo Impreza STI is almost 10k £ more expensive. If I lived and worked in Spain, I'd pay 8000£ less for my vrs

But then... I'd be a Spanish dude and get myself an Ibiza :faint2:

I have oredered a VRS Limited and have seen one and i must say they are very nice indeed and the performance from 0-60 might not be hot hatch once rolling it will keep the pace quite easily.

My option on the new one yes it will be better but you still will have the same after market add-ons to make it better and cost £££.

I found that the car for me handle's and drive OK whislt returning over 50 MPG if you want a performance car you then you need to pay perfomance money i have part - ex a Subaru Impreza STI Prodrive for one due to the running cost 15-20mpg:confused: Service cost of £300-£800, Insurance you are looking at £2K per year to keep the car on the road before fuel you cannot leave it out unless you want some T**T to try and steal it whilst the VRS is not an STI it cost a 1/4 of that to keep it on the road and and i think is good value for money and the last thing you can use it.

What planet are you on???????

Do you really think that the majority of Fabia vRS have been modified?................

..............There are other people on the planet other than Briskodians you know!!!!!

*rant over*

I think people mod and remap the vRS because there are such gains to be made. This is true will all newer diesel engines, not just VAG. Dispite what you say the car IS a compromise. Not everyone who buys them wants better perfromance and handling. If skoda were to make the standard car alot better it would surely impact on the price, which is a big factor in why people buy them.

I bought a ltd vrs because I wanted a fabia vrs and it was the only one I could get. The gf likes the colour, so thats a bonus! :)

There are very few cars in the same market as the vrs, so it was a simple choice.

I wont be trading mine in 12 months down the line because I dont think the new vrs is going to be the far superior car you suggest. It may be a bit faster, and handle a bit better. But it wont be gunning it against the Clio 197's and Corsa VXR's about. I'm sure skoda will keep it as an affordable small car with good performace. Diesel and TSI have been suggested, and if thats correct then both versions should be affordable and quick enough.

The majority of VRs owners have modified the car (engine & springs etc Jabba roll bar) because the original car just aint what they really expected or really wanted.

Mine is exactly what I wanted: 5 doors, OK handling (plenty good enough for many people), good enough performance, good economy, not exepensive to buy. It *might* get remapped just because you can get such a good gain for little money, but as standard it's fast enough.

Also: even if you *do* want to mod it, it's a cheap car to start with. Insurance is cheap too.

It's not a supercar, but it's an excellent diesel hatch.

what he said

I'm sure the minority of VRS's are modified and the majority leave them be as they knew what they were buying into and had decent test drive sessions etc.

a Fabia VRS is a Fabia VRS if you want something direct towards performance then other options are better than modifying a VRS to a huge extent. A bonus of the VRS is that if you do want to have a performance hike you can. The car is a great car in itself and as standard.

Totally agree. Your experiences reflect my own - here's a history of my last half dozen (privately owned) cars;

'89 XR2 (modified)

'91 Golf Gti 16v (standard)

'94 RS2000 (modified)

'04 Furby vRS (modified)

'05 Mini Cooper S (standard)

'06 Furby vRS (standard)

soon to come.. '7 Furby vRS Ltd Ed (on order)

Like some others on this site, I've also had the pleasure of driving a selection of other vehicles (company cars, hired, friends, relatives, begged, borrowed, etc..) and I've got to say, the Furby hits the spot for 'all round' performance per

Ok i am a complete technophobe and it takes me a long time to type can you blame me for not editing my last post when i noticed that for some reason it screwed it up?

Maybe i am being a bit premature slating the new fabia as no one has seen the new vrs yet so i think i will reserve judgement untill i see it in the metal.

What planet are you on???????

Hopefully not yours.

P.S - I didn't underline majority, you did. If you're going to quote people, leave the original text as it was. If you think the MINORITY of VRs Fabias are untouched (on this forum) then you are as deluded as you sound.

Here's yet another happy STANDARD Vrs owner. (LTD Edition as well)

My plan is for:

Jabba ARB powder coated in red

Seat sport front strut brace

Eibach springs

Pipercross repalcement panel filter

PD 160 air intake

Front windows tinted to match the rears

Genuine Audi RS4 17" finnished in brilliant white with 215 40 17 rubber

(well I have them in the garage would be a shame not to use them )

Think that will do for just now

Not sure about a remap at the moment

Getting very excited

 seems like the minority speaking again eh ?

Hopefully not yours.

i don,t know about that as far as i can see you have nothing to say and your saying it too loud

C'mon ladies - play nicely.

You'll be popular with the Police

Hopefully not yours.

i don' date='t know about that as far as i can see you have nothing to say and your saying it too loud[/quote']Hear that in a film did you. That's cool.

If you don't like my opinion then I couldn't give a to$$ and if you feel insulted just because you've bought a Race blue (sorry, racing blu) Fabia, then tough titty. I have my opinion which has not insulted anybody. Grow up.

You'll be popular with the Police

Yes, the guy who posted this modification for his new race blue Fabia recently won't be will he. It wasn't a quote by me, but taken from his post.

Final warning here I think - please keep it on topic and don't abuse other members.

No offence intended - just a friendly dig (hence the wink - ;))

Enjoy your holiday all!

none taken bud:thumbup:

I don't feel insulted because i bought a ltd ed and if the new vrs looks good i will probably buy one of those too no one argues that technicaly the new one will probably be better but to insinuate that everyone will modify to make it what they want or be p**ed off when the new one comes is just plain daft. My previos post explains exactly why i want one and no one will convince me that i have made a bad purchase ,and if the new one turns out to be so good well good for the owners of it.

Hi Jonnyboy

I have been reading your comments and I say each to there own, we all have an opinion and hat of to you for stating your mind.

but please everyone can we keep it friendly.

I personaly think that the current Fabia is a good looking car and am disapointed with the new one. I feel that all cars are to similar in looks and the new fabia is to much like the Mazda 3 from the front for my liking. About modding well I have on my current VRS a K&N and DP160 intake which do nothing I feel for BHP but do give me a extra 2-4MPG and a little less smoke. I also do quite high miles so the filter has well payed for itself as well. I also have a front strut brace and Jabba ARB to give me a safer road holding but saying that I have moddied all my cars in similar ways over time. Even people with the new Fabia will add bits and bobs to it and there are always ways to make great cars even better. To me its about personal preferance and looks, I will never be a bonnet scoop and spoilers guy and will keep my SE looking standard but I dont slag the people how like that sort of thing either as at the end of the day for most its about personal enjoyment, and I enjoy my car, its mine and I will do with it as i feel fit.

So please everyone play nice no more insults.

Cheers
