V8 feel Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Why I like the Beastie

Have never driven a V8 - but the effortless 'urge' / waft of the Fabia seems to emulate what I imagine a V8 would be like. All with no drama, no fuss, no stupid exhaust note, no need to exceed 4k revs.

And, it's a bog standard one - cept for the Millers Diesel Power Plus (soon, when I run out of the last container, to be supplanted by the Sport 4 which is supposed to be even better).

OK, I assumed I'd be getting sensible comments - not delusional Mazda drivers (what you doing on this Forum anyway - get off or I'll have you detained under the Terrorism Act).

BTW - evening, Roy :D

Val, In all honesty I think you should go for it. Imagine a small block Fabia V8? I think Bristol Motors run a 2,0 litre V8 in their new fighter. Or a stock Audi 4.2 V8. The sound is not silly BTW it's officially classified as 'gorgeous' by international engine experts an that like.

Delusional,

Don't need it - plenty of oomph when needed. Certainly enough to get me in trouble with Plods

1/2 of driving these days is watching for the cameras etc - Eeh, when I were a lad..............

A V8 diesel - now that would pull :)

Got me there :)

You are so right though. I can count on one finger the amount of times when I've found an empty road ripe for blatting purposes. It just doesn't happen any more.:(

When you gonna realise that there are no sensible / non-delusional ( 4 attempts at shpelling) Mazda 6 Forums ?

Mebbe then you'll return to 'The Fold'

PS I should stop puffing on the wacky bacccy

Bang a V10 TDi in it (possibly at the expense of the rear seats & boot) - they sound nice and pull ok too

Must admit, I'm having trouble working out this thread. Didn't understand the first post nor the subsequent ones! :( What's the beastie?

Anyway, has my Fabia or my P6 broken down? Is that the question?

Deary me, I shouldn't have three pints at lunch time!

We call our Fabby 'The Beastie' (wee Beast cos of its looks - seems to want to jump out at you when you open the garage door).

The rest was just how enjoyable the power and delivery is.

Ahh, so your saying a diesel Fabia feels like a V8?

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but I can assure you it doesn't, you see, the thing with V8's is that most of them actually are fast, rather than just feeling it!

My SD1 V8 Feels absolutely nothing like a Fabia at all, I can promise you that, and it's not all about how it goes too, it's the whole experience of a V8 engine, the sound and the feel is something no diesel could ever match, particularly one with half the cylinders, half the horsepower, half the torque, and none of the sound!

A V8 can not be compaired to a 1.9tdi compleatly diferant. After all you dont see top fuel diesel dragsters do you there all big V8's a diesel can be fast but not as fast as a V8

oh dear...

firslty, what type of v8? cross plane or not? jap, german or american?

carb fed, fuel injected? 32v?16v?

pig iron, all alloy?

Hang on here- If you stop trying to make fun of anonymouse - he/she has a point.

I owned a 5.7l V8 Camaro years ago (1986), had it for about 5 years. 650 cfm Holley double-pumper carb plus I fitted a 150hp Nitrous system on it as well.

The Fabia vRS is reminicent of the way that heavy torquey motor behaved. Not the same but really quite similar in a few ways, mainly low rpm push. That smallblock V8 redlined at a ridiculously low 5.5-6K. Obviously not the same power in the Fabia vRS but there you have it.

Cheers

Oh, yeah, lol, I was obviously thinking of Connaught Motors 2.0L V10 engine that they've installed in the new Type D GT Syracuse.

I'm sorry but I just cant see the similarities between the two at all? completely different driving experience IMO, the 130 pd engine has no power off boost, completely unlike a naturaly aspirated V8?

And frankly, if you start making comments like the 'Fabia feels like a V8' your gonna have to accept some p*ss taking

And as for your PM anonymouse, i'm rather confused? I dont think I insulted you anywhere in my post?

Thank you, Basil

And, I'm a he (last time I looked anyway)

Cavalier TD 'did' nothing below 2,500 revs- Fabia, though it grumbles, picks up in 4th from 1200, pulls strongly from 1500 and then, of course, really goes when the turbo kicks in. Considering it idles at 950 rpm or so I am really impressed at the low down power available.

I thought the muppets had be deleted :D .

Funny as FK.
