Baptism of fire (pics)

My first outing in my little Furby in my spiritual home, The Yorkshire Dales, and I have to say she performed brilliantly. Speeds may have been 30-40mph lower than my old Scooby, but I was impressed with her composure and fluidity when eased through high speed bends. Took in Ribblehead, Buttertubs (both directions), Hawes to Richmond via Aysgarth, back and down through Kettlewell to Grassington, on towards Pateley Bridge and then down over Greenhow Hill for the drop past the reservoirs to Otely and back home.

Stopped for some pics in Hardraw and on Buttertubs.....

Had a fraction over 1/2 a tank when we left home and the chime went 5 miles from home, TC says 40 miles left and average 40mpg. The Scooby would have used a whole tank at least and returned 12-16mpg, although I must admit, it was worth that expense for a while.

Did someone steal the alloy wheels and put steels on whilst you were in the tea shop?????

OMG lose those wheels...they're hideous! (sorry just not to my taste at all!)

The alloys are tucked up nice and safe in the cellar, so my learners don't trash 'em. I'm a driving instructor and the steelies make SOOOOOOO much sense. I made sure they're 16's with the same size/profile tyre so as not to upset the gearing/speedo/handling. I know they don't look too cracking, but neither does the car if we're truthful. It's just a 5 door supermini with a couple of green badges which benefits from a good engine and rewarding driving dynamics. If I was really into the Fabia for looks then a set of 18" Superlegerras would grace her, but she is a tool, albeit a good tool.

PS - The trims are meant for a Transit :P £13 a set for cheap replacement when they're scraped to Hell. Skoda wanted over £120 for some 16" Superb trims

That explains why the steelies are on mate, I'm looking and going thats a vrs is it not, nice looking car and great scenic shots there mate.

Seems to be quite a good "driving school" car have seen a few up my way now. :)

Had the senior examiner of Leeds in mine 2 weeks back and he complimented it. Said it made a refreshing change from them God-awful Corsa's and although docile enough for learners, provided performance and feedback to satisfy a more advanced driver. My sentiments exactly.

If only my instructor had a vRS.. :( I learnt in a 1.2 micra.. the bubbly one..! wohoo....:thumbdwn:

Tho v nice pics and v nice idea about the steelies! saw a vRS instructor car back at home with std 16's on and i was like nooooooooo! poor wheels..

Nice pics! I grew up round there so good to see it all with a skoda like mine too!

But those trims, how could you?:o

What about some gold ones and pretend its a diesel scoob!?

Anyway, enjoy!

I was up in West Yorkshire over Easter and saw LOADS of Fabia vRS's! Seem much more common than where I am down in Dorset!

i also am a driving instructor using a vrs but have kept the alloys on and up until now (touch wood) no one has gone near a kerb with them but i have got nice side wall protection on the tyres just incase:thumbup:

I learnt in a vrs :) loved it so much iam now buying one ;)

I work in Keighley, and see 3 Fabia vRS's as driving school cars everyday.

It's not suprising the young lads driving around are hooligans.

Did you get the steelies from skoda themselves? if not where from and how much? im just waiting on mine being delivered for driving school car too :)

Keep the Steel wheels but loose those bloody wheel trims, looks like an old persons car....

Man, I wish i could have learnt to drive in a fabia vrs. Learnt in a clio dynamique dci 80!

The roads look like good fun round there. Cant wait to take some time off in the summer and go driving on some decent roads :D

Will be up in Yorkshire in Augest on my hol's, Looks like some nice driving roads up there.

Am i right in thinking Clarkson did a piece on the buttertubs in an Escourt Cossie?

Never mind the steelies and the scenery, your missus looks well bored in shot 6!

'Are we there yet'?

yeah Clarkson was in his cossie up in this part of the world .. Hawes is only 25miles away from where I live...and when I feel like a 'sunday afternoon drive' (chance would be a fine thing 'cause i work Sundays) I like the Ingleton to Ribblehead to Horton-in-Ribblesdale road, and yeah the drive to Hawes and surrounding area is a bril one

Nice pics, It's lovely scenery round the Dales.

these trims would look better ont Fabia though, and satisfy other briskodians' urge to mod your car for you...:D

16" Scorpion wheel trims

Your right he did, seem to remember he said his was his favourite bit of road.

I'll never forget the night we were doing a 12 car road rally in the depths of winter one year not so long ago, it took everyone several attempts to get up Buttertubs. It had snowed and then the temperature dropped and started freezing so the road had a coating of shot ice all over it.

I'm with you Mekon..... this is my vRS, 78,000 miles of learner drivers, and I exchange her for a new car tomorow... here's a pic.... no kerbed alloys ;) (althogh I admit I'm showing the wrong side... only pic I have tho!)

car1sx9.jpg

just don't let them hit the kerb ;)

the 17's on the grande punto sporting I'm replacing it with, look even more prone to kerbing, but no way I'm taking 'em off

nice pics though... you should get along to the next cat'n'fiddle meet ;) keep your eyes on the north west meets section, and we can moan about the DSA... lol...

Steelies are from a Mk.4 Golf and were

Looking at that first picture it could almost be a misplaced max-power exhaust ?:D

I learnt in a Yaris 1.food blender engine.

Is that one of your pupils in the car then while you took the shots ?
