As I've only had my fabia for a few days I'm easing the engine in and I'm not taking it past 3000rpm until I hit 1000 miles and change the engine Oil.

There's plenty of power within this rev range and as far as I know the traction control has not been required yet!

Question - How effective is the traction control system, is it over restrictive and does it come into play very often? or is it annoying?

I've yet to experience it :)

Traction control becomes a help when it rains :D

will help save your tyres.. because you *will* wheelspin on open throttle in 1st and 2nd.

Good in the rain, but annoying in the dry. IMHO :D

I've been very impressed with how good the traction is on a standard Furby Vrs. Ok if you go daft and boot out of junctions its gonna spin the wheels, and more so in the wet. Seems to be a much better system than the one fitted to my 1.8 zetec Focus!

As a side issue though, I'm just wondering how the traction control copes with a furby VRS that has been remapped and has 300+ lb/ft of torque!!! Is it cutting in all the time?

All the reviews of the Fabia vRS iv'e seen, and one in Parkers car guide says that the Fabia's traction control takes away power when needed, is annoying and restrictive, come to think of it, all reviews iv'e read critiscise the vRS's handling overall.

For what it is worth with both the Tdi Fabia and the vRS (although like you still running in) I've found it excellent, coming into play at the right moments. I guess though this is all a bit subjective.

IMHO you don't need to wheelspin the Fabia vRS to do fast starts, get the car rolling then use the torque in 2nd by depressing the pedal rather than foot to floor. Ok, so boy racer might start off from the lights in front but you'll sail past as he runs out of puff and goes from 2nd to 3rd.

Well, that's what happened with the barryboy cruisers & me out and about last night :)

I have learnt to drive mine with it on and limit the amount of wheelspin (nearly 330 lbft torque on mine).

It comes in occasionally (thank god it did the other night when I hit a massive 'puddle' of standing water and the car took off) and find it reminds me to clam down.

Personally i have had a few exciting misses with the TC on the works Octy.

When you want to pull away quickly i'd be tempted to turn it off and accept a bit of wheelspin and tyre loss!

Pulling away from a roundabout, got a gap and went for it, TC kicks in and almost stops the car dead so i am stuck in the middle of the roundabout with cars approaching and no power to the wheels!

That must be a bit embarrasing, being in the works car and all :)

Helps if you feed the power in rather than just flooring it. It's all about anticipation ;)
