I stand corrected - that'll teach me to read properly...getting tired...

If you look carefully, you can see the Golf is a modified one which happens to have a 2.0 TDi engine fitted.:P Also, so does the Golf cart
Did they ever make a 160bhp variant? I thought it was a 150bhp (the one with the red TDI badge - as opposed to the TDi with the red D and I - I used to own one!)

The Ibiza Cupra is a 160PD, the outgoing Leon Cupra TDi was a 150PD.

Which is best though?

The 130PD or the 150PD? Ive read in Autocar that in the Golf for 80% of the time the 130PD is the best option due to it being less laggy however when you give it the beans the 150 comes into its own.

Mind you the new 140 2.0TDI is much better than the 150PD and quicker.

Which is best though?

In the style of Harry Hill,

"Theres only one way to find out... FIIIIGGGHHHTTTT!!!"

I think its horses for courses - if you say prefer to drive in the lazy style then the 130TDI would be quicker however if you like to drive your TDI like you would a petrol then the 150TDI is much better suited.

If you drove each the other way round then you'd be slower.

I've never driven the 150 TDI, but the 130 TDI certainly responds pretty well to being driven like petrol and is definitely quicker driving it like that than "riding the torque", but I fear we may be retreading old ground there ;)

Ah no thats incorrect you will find common rail engines very petrol like (hence the 120D BMW et al.

While the VAG PD engines really produce a lot of torque at very low revs so you drive to the engine's strongest ability. So with the common rail you rev out while the PD you ride the torque - else if your not useing the torque why did you buy the Pump Duse engine?

I've driven a variety of modern diesels (common rail and PD) and they all respond better to being revved. Using the torque is just putting more strain on the engine mechanicals, DMF, etc plus you lose momentum so it feels faster because you're getting going again, going through peak torque.

Old-skool diesels like my Disco really didn't gain anything by being revved and there you had no choice but to use the torque...

All in my very humble experience :D

It came with the car?

It came with the car?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Didn't you have the Flintstone option fitted? ;)

Ok then think of it this way a Ford Mondy with the 130tdi engine has much less torque than the VAG 130tdi. They all weight a similar amount yet when you look at the power & torque graphs you will see the optimum change up point & its much lower with the PD's.

With regard putting a strainn on the drive train etc well they have been designed to cope with that much power & torque and designed to cover very high milages.

So I dont buy that Im afraid. No manufacturer is going to make a vehicle which cannot cope with its std outputs - see Mercs who limit torque specifically for this reason yet the tuning comps simply chip them up with no regard to the drivetrain....if MBenz thought following all the testing that the output level they decided upon was the optimum for longevity & performance then why on earth have two bob tuners got the idea thats wrong? MBenz & others spend

I'm finding it so difficult to work out what this thread is about..

Mondeo TDCI 130 has peak torque of 330Nm.

Octavia/Fabia PD130 has peak torque of 310Nm.

:D

So? BMW's have 400NM +

So? BMW's have 400NM +

My mates brothers dads uncles mums grandmas nephew has a v10 Toureg with 750 nm, which is alot more than the mondeo and octavia put together.

What IS this thread about?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's a thread about everything and anything (but Fabia's!)

Ford

130bhp @3500

330NM @ 1800

VAG

130BHP @ 4000

310Nm @ 1900

However the ford engine is much newer than that of the VW so comparing the latest 2.0TDI VAG

140BHP @4000

320Nm @ 1750

& the 170TDI VAG

170BHP @ 4200

350Nm @ 2000

Or adding in the BMW 1 Series to the equation then it:-

177bhp @ 4000

350Nm @ 2000

Very interesting stats there.

I'm not really bothered about the V10 Toureg to be honest. I've got a mate down the pub, who's sister owns the pub, but you'll find his best mate, goes out with his sister, who was previously dating his mum, but the dad found out, and it's back to square one.

He had a Remapped Bugatti Veyron, with well over 1,000 NM of torque.

Moral of the story, there now all single.
