Drilling Airbox

Featured Replies

Hi there, can anyone guide me as to how to drill the airbox on a 1.3mpi felicia? Cheers

1) open box

2) take out filter

3) use hole saw to put big holes in base of box

4) put filter back

5) close box

or, fit an induction kit.

Would this make much difference on a 1.3 though?

i would make it sound as meaty as a grilled elephant..... but that's about it i'm afraid

Was thinking about doing mine . . . just for the noise of course.

I took it round the block the other day with an open intake. It sounded the nuts!!!

it would sound nuts if it sucked a stone in:O

Highly unlikely though. The intake is tucked up fairly close to the underside of teh bonnet.

Anyway I ran my MKII RS2000 with open 45's for 3 years with no prob's. I'm sure a quick blast round the blocked won't hurt, unless I'd really upset the big man upstairs

If it's drawing in hot air from the engine bay, it may actually harm performance!

BBQ..........

This kinda thing makes me laugh I have to admit. Skoda engineers spend years trying to get the last bit of torque out the engine and people think it can be improved with a Black and Decker.

Mine sounded quite throaty last week when the Cat rusted through and the pipe fell in half!

Haha, i took the middle air pipe (?) off the other day (runs from the engine block to the middle of the airbox) and it sounded really throaty revvin

youll get more horsepower sticking/painting a racing stripe down the bonnet and roof than drilling the airbox.

mind you, an induction kit and a de-cat can make a noticeble differance, frees the air/exhaust flow up no end.

to be honest, i'd like to find out for real wether fitting an induction kit and exhuaust makes any difference at all..

and to make if fairer you'd have to compare like for like... not a brand new induction kit against a scappy old 50k old filter with spiders living in it. and not a brand new high performance exhuast vs an old rusty one with 100k worth of soot stuck in it

it would be interesting to find out what a difference these modifications really make

I imagine little or no gain...

A "free flow" performance exhaust is likely to reduve back pressure and adversely affect bottom end performance...

my brother in law got a 1.6 felicia the other day.

it is the same age as mine, and has 5000 less miles on the clock. and no mods

we had a quick race, and lets say, well he lost by quite a long way.

we were both very suprised by the differance.
