Sudden clutch slip

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals

I run a 54 plate Octavia Vrs that is mapped up to 225 bhp and 300+nm of torque .I have had the map on the car for 2000 miles now and its been awesome and no problems what so ever until now that is :- I ran the car last sunday and gave it a bit of kicking and every thing was fine ,then the missus drove it on monday still fine but then the car stood until today and when i took it out i got mega clutch slip when accelarating hard from about 65 mph in 3rd and then 4th . If i drive steady and build the speed slowly it doesnt seem too bad but the minute i push my foot down whizz city again . Any ideas why the sudden slip thing because i have noticed clutches going gradually before and getting worse but this car has done less than 20k .....Help

Mine lasted about 1k after remap then did the same - some of us just seem unlucky. Other peoples seem to last ok.

Cheers for that musky .My local dealer reckons that its the dual mass flywheel that is failing but i will have to pay for the clutch plates that this has knackered and Skoda uk said the same ---makes a bit of a mockery of the warranty realy doesnt it .

My local dealer has told me that the clutches on the Mk1 Octy vRS seems only to last about 35,000 miles. True enough for me as mine went at 37,000 miles and that was before I had any modifications done to the car.

Hi mate has the car been ok with the mods done ince the new clutch went in or did you modify that aswell ?

Now you have me thinking, is it better to change my clutch before a remap. Im currently on the original at 50k. Mmmmmmmmmm

Mines a-ok on 46k.

My clutch lasted for 54k!!...

At least 30k of that was with it mapped to around 245-250bhp, and just over 2k with the IHI before it eventually went for a $hit.

Hit and miss I guess......

A good upgrade would be the Jabbasport G60 lightened and balanced (SM) flywheel and uprated Sachs clutch for around the

My old one lasted for 130K miles... and I believe it is still going :)

That was on a remapped car too

If the dual mass has gone too , have you thought about the G60 conversion?

This will replace the old dual mass with a sindle mass flywheel

Give a bit more vibration in neutral but will be cheaper in the long run and you can get an uprated clutch kit with it

Cheers for that Sarah but the flywheel is a warranty job as the motor is still under warranty so it will be getting done at the stealer but next time im thinking the G60 is gonna be the way to go .

Good luck

OK that makes it better for you then

The clutch , I doubt they will cover that , so get them to do that at the same time and there should NOT be a charge for the labour
