Featured Replies

Ok new car, want to keep it spotless, can anyone recommend the best stuff to use to keep it clean and new looking? Also what is the best window cleaner and any tips to get that showroom shine and no smears?

many thanks!!

A world for detailers...

They have loads of information.

Personally I've just bought a foam lance to cover the car before i wash it.

I'd also recommend avoiding sponges and use a microfibre or lambswool wash mit instead as these are much softer and are less likely to scratch the car.

Anything by Autoglym. The glass cleaner is brilliant, follow the instructions and watch the results !! I use it at least once a month and never had a problem with it.

I love the Jetseal 109

Sounds like your cabin filter might want changing to me.

In all honesty, the best way to find out what suits you best, is to find a car in the same colour as yours with the finish that you most admire, i.e. deep shine or wet look etc, and ask the owner what he has used.

it may seem nerdy, but it will save you loads of time and money, and will make another car owner chuffed that you appreciated his motor.

Meguires carwash

Swissol wax

Turtlewax Gloss Guard (apply after a second wash if just waxed)

In that order

Had this problem with my RS, although it was more like a couple of weeks before the haze came back. Anything I tried (including Autoglym) would make it look clean, but the haze still came back.

Then I got some Meguiars NXT glass cleaner and the problem went away. It's brill. Got mine from Polished Bliss - Professional Vehicle Detailing - Services, Products and Advice - great service and very fast. Highly recommended.

For the outside of the car I use Swissol stuff. Pricey, but good. And a tub of wax lasts forever.

my car is 2 months old, and it's been waxed twice already lol

Halfrauds got 3 for 2 on at the minute i bought a meguiers drying towel a some scratch x stuff both products are brilliant especially the scratch x got rid of all my little finger nail marks in the door handles and some marks where the dog tried to get the car

Put the glossguard on before the wax or it won't "stick" properly. The glossguard is a sealant and seals in the shine, the wax just protects that and is in effect a sacrificial layer.

Have had some excellent results using a selection of poorboys gear I had for Chrimbo, although i'm very tempted to get some collinite. :)

Hi , would this be the same process if I was using Autoglym Extra Gloss protection? I always put it on after the Autoglym super resin polish , but now I have bought some Meguires Gold Classe wax , so should my 3 steps be - Wash + Dry , Extra Gloss then Wax , or Wash and dry , wax then Extra Gloss?

Cheers

Wax should always be applied after Sealant. Extra Gloss Protection (EGP) is a sealant, and really enhances the shine of Super Resin Polish (SRP).

Try Wash > Dry > SRP > EGP. 24 hours later, add another coat of EGP. 24 hours after than apply one or two coats of Gold Class?

By eck ya learn sumat every day!!
