Almost heartbroken Quotelinedirect

Featured Replies

I bought my first VRS last Friday (had the Fabia 1.9tdi 100bhp) arranged for pick up Tuesday

Went straight to my insurer first thing like 09:00 Sat and arranged insurance starting Monday, no problem quotelinedirect instantly took my cash from my debit card

Damn Monday is bank holiday no post, Oh well not to worry I have not arranged pick up till Tuesday

Garage need insuranse to tax the damn thing

Tuesday no mail from insurer, get it tomorrow phoned quotelinedirect it is in the post

Wednesday no insurance

Thursday no insurance

Now a week and "MY" Furby VRS is still sat on the forecourt, waiting for me

I have spent thrice what quoteline "saved" me on phone calls and alternate transport

In future my insurance will come from a broker on the street where you can walk out with a cover note

I appologise as this is not really a Furby thread, just I am so angry yet excited that I "may" get my Furby tomorrow

If insurance is not in the mornings post, I will just go down the high street and pay again, I can not cancel as the insurance started last monday :thumbdwn: and cancellation is extortionate

Gutted. I know how you feel. we bought a new car for SWMBO last weekend but as the banks were shut we couldn't pay the guy and have had to wait all week before picking it up - finally get it tomorrow night.

If you do decide to get another policy you should be able to cancel the Quoteline policy without any fees as you should have a 7 or 14 day cooling down period. (in case you change your mind) well that's what I thought:confused:.

Hopefully someone in the know will be along soon with some more reliable information.

Oh I had the bank holiday weekend stuffed for cash jobby to

All my assets are in my name, and dopey me (old fart) never took up phone/internet banking

My wife "bless her" has all the bells and whistles stuff

So whilst I "had" the cash I could not access it, so SWMBO swung into action

transferred a

Couldn't they tax it online?, as the insurance should be logged in the database. Maybe it being a new car makes this not possible as it is not yet registered.

When i bought my saxo, i got the insurance company to fax it to the garage.

I sympathise, similar has happened to me in the past. Very frustrating!

But yes, you get a 14-day cooling off period for the policy. That's a pretty shoddy turnaround TBH. And I'd be thinking that it didn't bode well if you actually needed the policy further down the line?! :rubchin:

Steve

They have to offer a full refund if cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period. If they refuse then trading standards or financial ombudsman should be your next port of call.

The 14 Day cooling off period is something that you are entitled to under the distance selling regulations, if you need info on it i am sure that google can help you.

As a note, the way that Skoda got round this when i bought mine was that they gave me free insurance for a week so they would produce their own cover note and tax the car for me. Good Service.

I bought a Mazda last year and got this type of deal meaning I could change my own insurance in my own time, no worries about postage. I assumed this was a standard customer service thing for buying any new car.

However national, now its been brought up that skoda/the dealer did this for shep1984, maybe you should ask about it first thing tomorrow morning:thumbup: .

Ford do the weeks cover in exchange for letting them quote you for your new car.

This allows them to tax your car etc and then you can do as you like from there.

but was shep's a new car, or used ?

I got a free week with my new car (still had to call Skoda Insurance up to arrange it though), but don't know if they would do the same with a used one.

Another option is to use an online company, like Short Term Car and Van Insurance from dayinsure.com and insure the car with them for a few days. You go through the whole process online and at the end of it, you printout at home your insurance certificate.

Swinton insurance have just charged me a cancellation fee of

I was impatient waiting for mine to come throught too, but to be fair to admiral it only took a couple of days! I can sympathise completely though! :(

I thought I was right but I had to look it up to check -

I got a week's free insurance when I bought a used car from a Skoda dealer.

This was from Norwich Union IIRC (are they the quote me happy bunch?). I presume each dealer is free to sign up with whichever insurance company offer him the service.

It seems that the insurance companies are willing to offer this just so that they get the opportunity to quote - the dealer gave me a leaflet when I agreed the deal and I had to ring for a quote and give them the dealers reference number so that they could fax/email (not sure faxed copies are officially acceptable at the post office these days) a cover note direct to the dealer. Everything was in place by the time I picked the car up a few days later.

At the end of the call with the insurer I told them I already had cheaper quotes and there was no pressure - he said he would just sent the one week certificate through and I didn't have to give credit card details or cancel stuff at a later date.

I did not know that

This morning my dealer phoned me first thing and advised that

SKODA UK had authorised a free weeks insurance for me, and that it was now taxed for a year

I was up pretty smartish and there was my nice shiney new "to me" Furby VRS

I thought my Furby 1.9tdi was good, wow the VRS is something else

amazing car and I am a very happy bunny tonight :D

Yes thought of that, only we were stuck in a catch 22 position

Tax it online then have to wait for the disk to arrive in the post (offence to drive without "displaying" a current disk

The insurer assured docs in post and would arrive next day, which would be quicker than waiting for the online disk to arrive

then next day no docs err must arrive tomorrow which is quicker than applying on line today and so on

Anyway dealer with SKODA UK sorted it by giving free weeks Skoda insurance

Get the insurer to Fax the dealer a cover note, which you can then take with you when you drive off :)

Cancel within 14 days, you must return the full documentation by post when a refund will be given, however the refund wil take into account our setting up fee, our setting up fee for cancellation and reasonable charge for your time of cover

Upto first 30 days 30% of the full year cost (in the small print)

My dealer and SKODA UK came up trumps and were setting up a free weeks Skoda cover to get me taxed

Thanks for all your replies everyone
