Is 300 bhp possible from the 130pd?

Featured Replies

Not often to see you in this part of the forum Des ;)

It's the 300 BHP bit that got my attention.

You're all pigging mad you lot.

I think we should get all these nutty cars together at one BHP mad meet, that would be something worth seeing........and hearing.

PS Dave I have the clutch you need sitting in my garage.

Hi Des, long time.........

Clutch? Pm? :D :D

Jabba Luke - was it your Fabia which was in a Mag recently featuring Tuned cars and everyone elses they were not that impressed by but yours they thought was lol funny at how fast it was - IIRC it maxed out at 147 over 1.5miles & 0-60 just under 7 seconds.

It was his car in performance tuner mag. Got a goodish review. They sort of said they loved the car but it didnt rev as high as a petrol. They seemed to love the Golf GTI which to be fair is a nice car.

I love my new Steel SMF + helix clutch combo - yes it vibrates at low rpm but the car feels sooo much better. Once I have it run in I'll do a proper review. Ask awesome Sarah about the matched organic Helix clutch/SMF combo mate.

The weight dropping is not simply the difference between the bl**dy heavy DMF and the SMF - there's some explanation here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/maintenance-performance/interesting-article-lightened-flywheels/79574/

Cheers

Bas

I remember Jabba Luke stating his car would carry on leaving a Remapped Leon Cupra R even when the Leon Cupra R had run off the 160mph dials. So 147 top speed? Not bad, but the same as a standard Leon Cupra R.

300? I'll let you know on Tuesdat afternoon. ;)

All being well I will be mapped quickly enough to be able to get a test on TSR's rollers on the journey back to Devon. :D:thumbup:

Is it possible ? YES

Is it going to be realiable ? Should be

I was aiming for 300bhp on my PD Cupra and managed 265bhp on a VT2 with propane so 300 should be possible. Jason has a different propane set up then me though so i don`t know how much of a difference that will make. My propane kit added 35bhp to my 230bhp figure when i was running a VT2.

High torque figures are possible on a diesel quite easily. All you need to do is dump ****e loads of fuel in low down, the car will smoke like hell but it will give a high reading.

Interesting as I know for a Fabia thats not far off those with a lot less mods ;) I am sure Lukes would be good for a bit more top end.

Luke has already said elsewhere on here he has seen 160 on GPS. :)

Martin, to get anywhere near 150mph with a lot less modifications .... is just completely innacurate. Bear in mind, it's around a 'true' 130 as standard, remap's only help get the car to that designated speed quicker, not to increase it by much.

Even with all those mod's on a Fabia of Hybrid Turbo's etc, would struggle to hit 150mph. A true one at that.

Oh god yeah, the gauge is bloody awful! The test was done over 1.5 miles though so it's possible it would go on more

The fabia I am thinking of is good for 138mph which is only 12mph less.... And thats on the GPS, however if my memory serves me correctly it took a little longer that 1.5 miles to get to it  which is to be honest why it was stopped there as the runway ran out. The 0-60 is at 7.23 with a Gtech which again is not far off.

Thinking about it thats only 11 mph more than the standard quoted top end so I suppose it's all relative

Hmm... Has that been tested on a rolling road other than JBS's?

Not in it's current spec and I'm not sure why it matters either in the context of this thread where I was just helping establish what the 02M gearbox can cope with.

12mph at the topend is a big difference. Look at the difference between a Mac F1 and a Veyron for only 19mph. ;)

Yeah, Ill claim partial responsibility for the misdirection and I apologise :o

However, please don't start calling me Welshy :P

I was only responding to a topic which was going off topic anyhow?

I found the guage to be bad too. 130mph on the clocks, showed 118mph on GPS. Which again is 12mph less.

Fair comment.

Apologies to Dave for continuing the OT chat but here's my take on the RR figures from JBS:

From experience I've no doubt at all that the figures my car achieved on their RR are what the car genuinely makes. In fact on occasion I've had good reason to believe it probably makes a little more than the RR suggests.

Not doubting you. Mearly questioning had it been on any other rolling road. For that torque figure, because it would give a good indication of say, what Jabba Luke's torque figure is running in comparison. If they'd been on the same RR, I think it would be close to see what 300hp and say 450-500 lbs of torque gives you. Therefore, might identify, what internals, drive-train choices to choose.

I don't understand what you're saying. Are you wanting to compare a petrol to diesel?

Nevermind.

Where do I find the can of worms icon/smilie

Anything is possible if you fling money at it, there are many 130 Golfs running 280 in Europe without NOS so a quick shot and well over 300 ain't far away.

Problemo?

I guy over in Polland carrys out GT2256 and GT2356 conversions on ASZ engines. Dont think he's got past 250bhp yet.

Hi Dave

We cn do you the clutch set up with the SMF as Baz has

We are also doing the Quaife diffs too

But IIRC I have given you a price ish

Glad to know that you got sorted with the little prob you had with that hose

Sarah
