Understeer is quite apparent, but more down to :dung: tyres than the suspenders. Have heard the strut brace makes a big difference though. Getting one for mine soon I hope. Can be bought from any good SEAT dealership. Same as the new model Ibiza sport TDi.

 Graeme, strut brace obviously not available through skoda network then i presume? How much through seat then? You say that tyres are the first culprit for u/steer,Im assuming you've done some aggresive driving somewhere to come to this conclusion if so what rubber are you running on? Also do you know if it's possible to de-cat it.Heard this is possible on some cars, but don't want to ask main dealer due to possible repucussions on the old warranty front.Would be a bit of a pain in the **** putting the pussy back on every time I took it in for work too I suppose.Think I've just typed my way out of that train of thought!Just thinking of the extra few horses, critical when competing on what will be a fairly tight budget initially.I'll give it couple of goes, and if no good revert back to my trusty citroen  ax,and just carry on using the fab for road use,til funds permit otherwise cheers colin

After owning the new Mini, everything else jus doesn't compare! I've now got a Tavia vRS although faster it corners like a boat and it feels like u are sitting in one as well! New seats and suspension can't come soon enuf!

As long as u don't drive a Mini then the Fabia will be fine methinks!

Colin.

The Strut brace costs

:worried: Thanks col,all a bit dissapointing though. Not entirley suprising however, what with that big lump at the front, and the overall kerb weight.I can see the old credit card is gonna have to have a bit of a battering, trouble is the missus want's a new kitchen.Dunno why, she's always moaning how she hates it in there! Houses are for living and sleepin' in,cars are ror travel and fun.Why the hell you 'd buy something you don't like, defeats me too!Did offer a new bbq, that went down like the flamin titanic. cheers colin

Mines getting Toyo Proxes tomorrow - I'll let you know what difference they make (standard suspension for now  )

You'll be dead pleased with them! (considering how much they cost)

Hey Neo' date=' how easy / difficult is it to fit the strut brace? i.e. what's involved, tools, time etc.? Also, are you aware of any warranty issues with fitting one?

Thanks, Chaos[/quote']

Sorry for barging in with a response.

The Seat Strut brace requires no drilling to fit. The fixing locations are already in place, it's just a case of remove four bolts put strut brace on tighten bolts. There is a guide for it somewhere on here that links you to a Seat website with comprehensive instructions.

I reckon your looking at 20 minutes to fit.

Very interesting..... However, if you gentlemen think that the Fabia vRS understeers, I take it you haven't spent much time behind the wheel of a TDI Golf.

It's only since driving my wife's new vRS that I appreciate just how much the Golf does understeer and mine's fitted with Bilstein PSS9 suspension. I can feel my credit card slipping out of my wallet to the tune of over

I'm comparing mine to my previous Puma - bit unfair really, as they are superb handling cars

I have a solution for you on this...check out Group Buy section.....Jabbasport sports downpipe/cat and sport cat back system.

Includes a 100cel cat.

Prices will be very competative for this top quality kit.....will be cheaper still if we cn get a grop buy together. Need a minimum of 5 but the more the better and potentially more savings.

Thanks for that too,but think I'll sort the old road holding out first,(there's a day's wages) starting with tyres, springs then shocks.Believe there is a lowering kit availale, but then you've got to start thinking sumpguards, mainly cus of all these flamin speedhumps.Bit of a bottomless pit this ain't it? colin :(

Perhaps I am alone in thinking the Fabia vRS really aint a bad handler as standard, although I do recognise its probably not as light on its feet and nimble as some of the more accomplished competition, but I think its really quite entertaining around corners, but then I did come from a Micra :D

Mine still runs on the Michelin Pilot Primacys at the moment. Begrudge paying for new tyres when there is still life in these ones. Even though the fronts are down to 4mm already!

When they are shot, I will get one of 3 tyres really depending on current financial situation. Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's, Pirelli P-Zero Nero's or Toyo Proxes. Had a set of Proxes on my old 16v and they were great, but didn't last too long.
