:D Hi everyone. I'm new to the world of Skoda and Briskoda, having sold my Citroen C2 VTS after owning for just 16 months from new and entered the grown up hatchback market! I am so pleased I made the plunge and bought a mark 1 Octavia VRS - it is a fantastic motor. I've had a big cheesy grin on my face since I picked it up a fortnight ago.

My only gripe is water spilling into the boot when you lift the tailgate after it has rained - something I know some of you have already talked about on this website. I found out the hard way during the miserable weather last week. The car park I use though has a good slope in it, so I think when it is wet, or going to rain, I'll be parking at an angle!

Anyway, a quick run down of my VRS: diamond silver hatchback registered 2003 (on a 03 plate), one previous local owner, FSSH, 24k registered and verified miles from new and virtually mint in, out and under the bonnet! If the former owner reads this thread - thank you - you kept this car in showroom condition. It is in stunning nick given it is four years old.

All I've done since buying is fit a K&N 57i air induction system and Denso iridium spark plugs. In my view both these additions help the engine run more efficiently, though I couldn't say how much bhp it adds - probably up to 10bhp from both? Dunno, but I didn't add the filter or sparkies simply for the extra acceleration.

Anyway, look forward to chatting with people online in the future. Sun's just come out, so I've got to get back out for another drive! All the best. Czechered flag.

Hello and welcome to Briskoda, nice car!

Hello and welcome to Briskoda, nice car!

Likewise Jamez

You've got the hot hatch - I've got the executive version (which I am probably better suited to now, given my age). I love the Fabia too - but changed from sporty hatches to a bigger model cos I need to transport people around and cos of work. Previously owned C2 VTS, Punto HGT, Saxo VTS, Peugeot 106GTi etc etc.... last big car I had was about 15 years ago! Nice to speak to you - let me know how you get on with the mods!:D Best wishes, Czechered flag.

Welcome to Briskoda

Hi - thanks for replying. I see you're a fellow driver - can you explain the mods you've done - I'm v. interested. I'm already doing a friendly flash of the ol' headlights to fellow Skoda VRS owners - seen two so far....

All the best:D

Hi Len

Where in West Yorks are you? I have two grown up boys in Leeds, one brother in Birkenshaw and another in Wakefield. I'm up north regularly cos of family connections and I was brought up near Halifax in my teenage years.

I've just found out from being the second owner of the Mark 1 VRS that (most, I'm sure) Skoda owners treat their motors well. This one is in top nick - and it is lovely to hear that there are drivers out there who appreciate their cars and keep them well to pass them on. It makes good sense anyway for our pockets!

Does the Mark 2 meet your expectations? Bigger engine and spec - what do you think?

All the best. :D

Thanks Hayley - or Kiki... Nice to get a few welcomes in my first post, including yours. Blimey, you're certainly top of the mark when it comes to web use - I only heard of Bebo today thru work and then notice you're already well across it.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone who's on site! All the best :D

Just down the road from Halifax and yes I did look after my car :)

The MKII is a vast improvement over the MKI but dont let it put you off. I miss the

grunt from 1800 rpm but the MKII is more linear :)

I'm in the Canterbury area, working in the Maidstone area. :D
