I need some advice, my dealer spelt my surname wrong when registering the vehicle, i am told that although i can change the spelling the old name will still appear as the first registered keeper, therefore when i eventually trade in the car it will look like 2 previous keepers thereby devaluing the car, any ideas what i can go back to the dealer with?

Ring the DVLA to confirm the facts, I am tolds can sometimes be wrong. Then get trhe dealer top sort it, its not your problem. If it def means you get 2 owners on it you can always elect to live with it if it worries you that much

I had the same problem.

I sent the V5C back having read the note in the green Box 5 and entering the corrected details in Box 6.

Got a new, accurate V5C about a week later, one owner, first keeper.

Thanks, unfortunatly I work for the company that wrote the system the DVLNI over here in Northern Ireland uses, I have confirmed it that the history cannot be deleted or changed - do you reckon I could ask for some kind of good will gesture from the dealer to make up for their balls up - inclusion in the 3 year free servicing deal that i missed out on by 2 weeks perhaps?

Nonsence - What happens to the registration history of cars that belong to women who have got married? Surely it doesn't show up as a change of keeper for this, so it must be changeable.

Get off out of it!

Contact DVLA ASAP, if you get stopped by my fellow police officers for what ever reason, it could cause confusion during the PNC check. If you tell them one name but the computer tells them another.............................

My mondeo had one letter wrong with my Surname, never caused any issues with anything in the 18 months I had the car. I just left it as I couldnt be bothered to get it changed.
