Bruntingthorpe Pictures.

Featured Replies

I fancy taking some good pictures on the 24th, especially if the weathers decent, as driving is only one of my hobbies (I'll make them available on the web afterwards for anyone interested to look at).

This raises two questions that I can think of ...

What is the trackside access like at Brunters? Close? And can you get into the centre easily enough? This might seem a silly question, but I haven't been before.

Second, has anyone on here got a 'long' (200mm or more) Canon EOS A/F zoom lens, that they might be willing to let me borrow for the day? It'd be well looked after, I'm painfully aware of the cost of such things  . I spent nearly a grand on a 300D a few weeks ago, and what with the trackday coming up, I can't afford to fork out for a longer lens before then, and I doubt a 'standard' will get close enough.

I just wondered, thats all ... :)

Chris,

A great offer, I will be onsite with media download capabilities. As Geoff and myself I know are also doing the rounds with camera's ( 300D's aswell ) We were going to publish either on CD rom via post or over the web via one or two of the photoprinting services. Hence the Laptop for one person to manage upload after the event.

As to trackside access we will sort somthing out for one or two of us, can't have everyone out there of course. You will possibly have to sign a few more bits of paper to say that you don't really care for your life should a wheel come towards you...

Other than that, I'll try and sort out some communication / plan later. I sense my head notepad might have to fall to a pen and paper soon ;)

Alright Colin. Just been chatting to a friend of mine. He's thinking about taking his video camera along to the national meet if thats alright. I'm sure we'll offer the DVD to people (if it's anygood). So the question is would track access be available to him if he choses to sign his life away. I take it incarfootage would be out the question :D

Cheers

John,

A few of us run cameras, just no time to process results. Also have bullet cams for those silly places .

The handling course will be the best et as it's lower speeds and of course more "action" with not as much distance to cover.

In car un fixed might be frowned upon, a few of us have mounts that can be used inside and outside vehicles, as I say most of the issue is post processing time, I'm still working on holiday vids from 2 years ago.

I wondered about in-car video, but I'm no expert in the field so I'll stick to stills I think.

I also don't fancy the idea of a wayward video camera, apparently well-secured, breaking loose in the back of the car ...

eek indeed. If we were (are) going to do it, thier would be a camera man in the passenger seat to be on the safe side.

I could help with processing vids and pics after the event (somehow).. got a stupidly powerful PC to play with :P

Sounds good.

If anyone fancies it they can carry my extremely powerful digital camera around with them to get some shots of me losing it on some bend... A WHOPPING 2.1 megapixels!

Chaps,

I'm happy to bring along laptop with 6-in-1 card reader and built in CD burner as well, if need be if people want to clear off digital still camera memory cards, as a backup. If that would be useful? I can get about an hour and a half out of the battery on a good day, so as long it was for occasional use, or dumps in middle / end of day it would be ok.

Chris, word of advice..

When considering buying hi-tech kit (Digi-cameras etc etc) its always worth posting on Briskoda to see if anyone has something similar.

As Colin said, we both have the 300D and could have pointed you in the direction of some good deals. I got mine with the "short" zoom & 128 CF card for around

I'm borrowing the works incar video system. The camera is the size of a match box and hangs on a long magnet from the roof and does sound and the quality is upto court standard. Works a treat usually.

Thats the idea. ;) I wouldn't mind if someone was able to capture the noise from my exhaust on full acceleration, not that it compares to a certain zorst I remember audibly still. :D

Well, being a connonball veteran I will be bringing the digicam and some cameras. Im no Speilberg but if you want to see my amateur efforts check out Wlnet . . .

The 70-300 lens from Jessops is a bargain ... might have to investigate that one. Thats a genuine Canon lens' date=' is it?

[/quote']

Indeed it is genuine ;)

Still in box, allegedly "refurbished" but as good as new. Works like a dream too and the picture quality is excellent.

Take a look on the Jessops site, there's a full listing of all the "used" gear for each store.

I popped in to Jessops ... didn't have anything second-hand that suited either my pocket or what I wanted ... BUT ... they did have an EF 80 - 200, new, for a reasonable sum of beans.

Said item is now residing next to me in my camera bag :D .

Anyone wanting used camera equipment could do worst than look at these two suppliers...

http://www.ffordes.co.uk

http://www.mxv.co.uk

both specialise in mail order used equipment.

The only connection I have is as a happy customer.

Dave

I will, as usual, be running in car cam as well :D

It's the sorting and editing afterwards that is a pain. I still have about 40 hours worth of stuff I need to edit and burn off :(
