You will have to move on at some point you know? :)

I reckon that in 15 years time you'll be boring the youngsters senseless about how great Rossi was and how he's the best ever.....I can just see you with yer faded yellow 46 hat and tshirt.:D

Mike the Bike, wasn't he the best ever?

Lance

No:)

Having only a passing interest in Moto GP, it is Rossi who captured my imagination as unlike 90% of top flight pro racers (incl F1, WRC, and Moto GP) Rossi exudes personality, and has proven his talent by the numerous Championships he has won to date. People like him make it entertaining to a wider spectrum of people, beyond the serious bike fanatics.

I don't think Moto GP would have the following it has currently without the likes of Rossi. It is a bit premature, not to mention "tabloid journalistic" to write the guy off just because he didn't win it last season.

This type of thread will probably do the rounds when Louis Hamilton eventually misses out on a podium finish.

Best ever - If we stick solely to short-track bike racing, then I'd say it's between Vale, Mick Doohan, Giacomo Agostini and maybe Carl Fogarty. If we add in road-racing, we've got to add Joey Dunlop and maybe John McGuinness to that. Now if we consider 2 and 4 wheel interdiciplinary people to the mix, we can't ignore John Surtees and Tazio Novalari.

Missing or not agreeing with your point isn't quite the same as missing the point.

Some of you needed reminding as it seems difficult for some of you to see the facts through the ifs/buts and other excuses.

So we have to listen to what the facts are through your eyes ???? This is a discussion so I say what I hear/see, i.e. from Race coverage. I'm obviously not sitting in the pit garage so can only go on whats in the media. Like people (well most people) have recognised, there's a fairly significant difference between the Top speed of Casey & Vale's bikes....in a sport where the first 3 finished within 0.4 of a second. There was nearly 5 Km/hr in the difference in top speed between these two in the last race (The Official MotoGP Website. This has occured for this whole season.

And its quite obvious that to make up this time differential this has to be made up elsewhere. It can be clearly seen that Rossi and the others are having to push quite hard to make the moves stick, & pull a gap before coming to the Start/Finish straight as the Ducati just blitzs them (this was the main thing I was trying to get across earlier, I'm not too sure how this could be misintrepreted from the coverage ). Maybe go through the last results and see where Colin finished. I also mentioned tyres before, The Bridgestones have dominated, especially in the wet...and guess what Casey is on. Its a Package, Tyres, Bike, Engine & rider, you need all for success.

Maybe you should get off your ABR (Anything But Rossi) stool. I enjoy seeing him win alright as he generally makes it exciting, but I'd love to see anyone from Stoner to Sylvain Guintoli win. As I said above I enjoy the whole Moto GP showcase.

Btw I'm not the type of person for "ifs/buts" & maybe, and any "excuses" that you mention are purely from what I see/hear from the coverage.

:orb_loser

Nice to see everyone has to agree with you

As Stavros said, if you're usefully faster down the straights, you can keep putting other people into a position where they get 3 corners into a complex and can't exploit their higher corner speed because there's a big red Ducati parked on their apex!

And fair play to Casey for doing it.

Agreed; if he was back around where Loris is, this season would be setting up to be a blue, yellow and white wash, rather than a racing season. I just think it's rather too early to start writing someone off because he's not locking out the race wins.

The facts I was on about are that Rossi got beat, regardless of the reason. That is a fact!!!

I've already said (numerous times) how talented I think Rossi is and am happy to accept and agree, without question, that the Ducati is faster.

My point is, it doesn't matter......he still got beat.
