Rossi and the fat bird

Featured Replies

Are we all ready for round whatever of the pro/anti Rossi ruck?

First practice is done, with Pedrosa taking the early advantage, just ahead of Stoner, with Rossi back in 6th.........I know I know, very early days yet and I ain't counting any domestic fowl.

Lance

Is first practice in MotoGP really much more relevant to qualifying, never mind the race, than first practice in F1?

IMO the soprano's gone back home, having decided that she'll not be needed until well into the second half of the year, if at all.

In all honesty the early practice sessions mean very little. The second session is running as we speak (type).

I seen a few minutes before heading to work (Rossi was just after going quickest after Pedrosa being there for a while). It must have all kicked off after that. That Honda of Dani is really starting to come good.

Rossi on pole with de Puniet second! :)

Nobody this year has won a race from pole. Will Rossi be victim of this years pole jinx??

The fat lady stands back up again!!!!

Rossi got done by a better rider on the day.......great race, best man won. Must say though it was edge of the seat stuff the last 2 laps.

:D :D :D :D

TBH what a great race,

Whether you can say that rossi is past it it was superb racing.

Fantastic stuff.

You can't argue the guy can still ride a bike!

Cheers

No doubt that he can still ride exceptionally well and is in no way 'past it'...........he clearly got beat today on level terms though.

How on earth did Pedrosa get back in it?

Excellent race.

Best race of this year. All credit to Stoner for withstanding the pressure.

Where did Pedrosa come from?? He was about 2 seconds off the first 2 men mid race!!

Who says the Honda doesnt work??

I agree with you there about Pedrosa, best i've ever seen him ride a Motogp bike. Again though, i have to disagree with you on the level terms bit. Right here goes, just my opinion of course..... i'd love to see Stoner pass someone going into a corner rather than using the horsepower of the Ducati on the straight, its the only bike on the grid that doesnt have to slipstream anything to get past it (so hats off to Ducati for doing there homework:thumbup: ) Its obvious the guy has big talent but i'd just like to see him come from say 4th or 5th during a race, i'd like to see him work it in the corners a bit more. Think what i'm saying is, he can obviously lead a race, weve all saw that this season, maybe thats why he's so good in qualifying aswell (clear track in front of him) but i'd like to see if he could work his way through the pack. Hats off to him today, pulling out the win under pressure from 'The Greatest'

Great race !!!

I'd have to agree, makes life easier when theres a few extra horses sitting on the back of the bike  (stick Stoner on the Yamaha and it would be a different story...or likewise). Rossi really has to push the boat out to gap him before the straight.

Great for the sport though....should be a great season.

It's a long season. Another 2 races like that and Casey's 24 points up. Then in the 3rd race down the chain he gets "taken off" by someone's over-optimism in lap 1 turn 1, and Vale goes on to win the race, and is now a point up, while Casey's unable to make the next 2 starts due a broken hand or something.

All I'm saying is that IMO it's too close to call as yet.

It must really hurt some of you lot when Rossi doesn't win.

Facts for yesterdays race..................Stoner 1st, Rossi 2nd..............doesn't matter how or why, that's the result.

The rest of the season is a different matter and we'll have to see what happens, for now though, he's second best, regardless!!

It must really hurt some of you lot when Rossi doesn't win.

To be honest with you, i think it hurts Stoner when Rossi doesnt win either!! Did you see the face on him after the race????? Certainly didnt look like he was enjoying it, maybe if he bought a personality with all the money Ducati are paying him people would warm to him more?? You'd think that after finishing in front of 'The Greatest' he'd manage a smile??

Again though, just my opinion;) :D

If the Stoner dig makes you feel better about Rossi getting done, then good for you. It make's no difference to me whatsoever..............the result still stands, personality or not.

Is the next race next week?

It must really hurt some of you lot when Rossi doesn't win.

I for one ain't hurt as the racing is top notch. But I do thing your really missing the point here.

    Jaysus I didn't know that

Btw Yes next race is next weekend.

Missing or not agreeing with your point isn't quite the same as missing the point.

Jaysus I didn't know that

Some of you needed reminding as it seems difficult for some of you to see the facts through the ifs/buts and other excuses.

I've just had a nose on the MotoGP site and the next race is at Donington on 24th June..................will have to watch this one at the Grune Holle at the 'Ring'.

Lance, are you one of the 3 people not named Hayden who thinks that Nicky won the 2006 championship, rather than Ducati and Yamaha (and to some extent Michelin) losing it?

Ken

No, not at all. Clearly Rossi is a far far better rider than Hayden, however for last years title that matters not a jot!! Hayden has the #1 on his bike, regardless of how or why!!

I've said/implied in other threads that the Rossi-ites are sore losers and this is becoming more and more evident every time he doesn't win.

I'm happy to agree that overall, Rossi is probably the best rider out there (poss exception of Stoner), but it's the results that count.

Rossi lost the race ..........he has got a nice personality though.

;)

My point throughout these threads has basically been that it's a long season. The biggest issue I can see is whether or not Casey can maintain a title challenge for the whole year.

Wrt the Hayden thing, I'd happily have accepted Capirex beating Vale cos they were both out there winning races, not acting like accountants and just gathering points!

Im no major "fan" of Rossi (in the same way that I wasn't a "fan" of Schumacher) but I do respect ability and it doesn't take a genius to work out that both have ability in abundance. I personally think that Rossi is still the best but am prepared to admit that Stoner is surprising me lots this year after his crashing exploits of last year. I do think the Duke's straight line speed is a big factor re: overtaking but the way that Stoner withstood the pressure without folding in a Biaggi / Gibbers way shows he has the potential to mix it at the top ... which is great for the sport

Do you REALLY believe this?? The guy has one 4 races this year and your putting him on par with Rossi????
