Thats right you need gold subs to play online. I think silver allows you to d/l content only.

My driving isnt the best either, but it's still good fun and I'm not one to drop out if I'm 6th. Wavey and Starch will vouch for that!

By the way, most people on here that say 'my driving's crap' are actually a lot better than I am, and I am a lot better at driving games than most of my RL mates. I didnt think I was too bad til I started racing online!!
