Cat Repellant

Hi,

I've just caught my neighbour's cat using my bonnet and front wing as a Bl

How about a commercially available cat repellant available from garden/DIY centres?

Please don't poison it.

Cats hate citrus things so lemon or lime. Or as cat owner I would have no objection to the super soaker treatment just so long as it was not over done.

If your car is near the garden there are plants that act as cat repellant plus you can buy ultrasonic cat repellants.

Or if all else fails apparently lion poo works.

let the poor thing have its fun with the front of the car...

(Just make sure the car is travelling at a good clip first....)

ignorance of the law is no defence.....

I certainly wouldn't poison it hedge, that's not in my nature. It's just I'm so mad as this is my second card that this cat has continually damaged, (my housemate's VRS has also had the same treatment over the last few weeks), and the owner just laughs and says she can't control her cats. I'm tempted to just send her re-spray bills and see if that wipes the smirk off her face.

The Chilli powder might get tried though, hopefully the smell will be enough. I've tried the citrus thing, and this had no effect on 'em. Lion poo hmmm, not exactly a stocked item at Pet Smart unfortunately.

Shame no-one does a cat repellant polish, now there's an idea.

get some lion dung from longleat and put it near the car... the cats wont come anywhere near then!! :D

There is another product called Feliway which is a synthetic pheromone and designed to stop cats scratching things.

You can get it from your local vet but it's not cheap.

Some blurb from the manufacturer.

Feliway

Dop of english mustard on its ar5e keeps it away from you and your posessions. :D Just lift its tail and apply a dollop

Neoghbour's cat gave out house and garden a very wide birth

If you always see the cat doing it, then spray it with water (supersoaker or garden sprayer) - it'll soon learn and stop doing it....

Chris

electrify the car, then you have your own Kentucky Fried Cat lol

Argh! I hate those things! one of the out laws' neighbours has one and I can hear the damn thing working, and those high pitched "yoof deterrents" are just as bad as well, I didn't think I should be able to hear them at 27 :D

Back on topic: I think a chemical deterrent is the first thing to try (cheaper) then give the ultrasonic jobbie a go.

Either that or get yourself a great big tom and he'll keep the others away.

I presume you mean a tom, rather than a Tom?

Get a big Alsatian - that'll keep it away.

tom as in tomcat, NOT the F-14 variety nor a Tom as in big bloke with a supersoaker

LOL, great Ideas guys. I'll have a nose around the chemical approaches and see what happens. (It's also an excuse to have a run round Toys r Us and have some fun with a super soaker !!)

Why not go over her car with an electric drill and say you can't control your temper?

LOL now that really is an idea. Hehe

For best results in deterring the cat I would go for the uzi 9mm.

Cocky, arrogant little sh**ts.

The front wing of my car developed some odd scratches shorty after I bought it. It occured to me that one of the swinnes has used the bonnet to warm its a*rse on!

I think I may ask my dealer to 'sort it out' under the warrenty and live with the scratches. :)

my dads cat likes to eat those Walker Thai sweet chilli crisps

I agree with the supersoaker idea. Cats are smart enough to learn and will soon get the message that if they go near your car they'll get a soaking.

The alternative is to keep the car so highly polished the cats just slip off all the time and never can get onto the car. :D
