Fabia vRS 250bhp

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've Just bought & paid for my Fabia vRS. Shes in black but im hoping to style her like the 2003 wrc car.

Firstly though I want to up the performance. Was looking at some of the dealer sites on here and was wondering if any1 had taken their fabia to 235-250bhp?

I know theres a lot of uprating to do, but it works out at alittle over 4k from what i can see.

Just wondered if any1 had, had this done and would say it was money well spent.

cheers guys

p.s Diesel Power all the way!!

Welcome

Have a search around, plenty of info here. Jason (devonutopia) and Luke (jabba_luke) immediately spring to mind for the kind of output you're talking about.

Wow, 230-250bhp is a helluva target on a budget of 4 grand!. Good luck with the project and welcome to the forum

You will be lucky on just 4k. Even getting the bits 2nd hand thats a lot of labour and it will be specialist labour too with only a few places doing that type of upgrade.

Up to 170bhp comes easy, about

Indeed, would be interesting totalling up the 'big power' players modding bills

Steve

I have always said the sweet spot for the Fabia VRS is about 170bhp for cost and useablillity.

It just seems to work at that point, anything more is a real labour of love!

Yep, I'd agree. That's where I'm aiming for. This may include an uprated clutch, as when I remap, the std clutch will have already served reasonably well. That said, what mileage/life would you expect from an original clutch?

Only other things I'd look at really would be a good deal on a hybrid and FMIC.

I suppose the best bit of advice new members can gain is to sort the suspension and brakes first, before adding more power

Orignal clutch? Hmm in a standard car I would expect 80k+. Remapped, depending on remap; Generic 40k, custom 60k. You can't say for definate but those are ball parks from what I have seen heard and experainced ;)

If your gonna do Hybrib and FMIC (These beauties will be well over a grand) then remap after this and of course, sort the stoppers and springs out first ;)

BTW if you want a cheap effective mod, just get rid of you cat :)

For 220bhp you need:

FMIC

15587.attach

15588.attach

FMIC

Whats the labour on those?

A trip to polland, weeks labour + hardware. A please phone job

I'd aim for something a bit lower power wise for that budget and improve the handling - there is no way you can put that kinda power down without it, IMHO of course.

I run at 201bhp right now, and that is lower than it should be, and without propane, and without uprated injectors. It should be possible to get up to about 220-230ish real bhp. Seriously though, sort out the brakes/handling first, much more fun to drive and a remap on std turbo will get a nice smile on your face initially.

Go higher than that and the cost goes up fast.

As Decron has already said. I nice reliable 170bhp is a good choice with a simple remp. Get a custom one to save the clutch. A FMIC to maintain the power.

Handling. Jabba Rear ARB and some KW or bilstein coilovers.

Brakes. Vag 312m mwith uprated pads & fluid.

After that. Buy an Octy.

I'd agree with that - mine started slipping at 55K with a custom remap (and appalling technique!)

7-8k?.. maybe i under estimated a little :o

Deffiently gonna get that clutch from jabba, & I want the intercooler because I just like the look of it :)

Was looking at the turbo upgrade from them for 2k, but them im gotta uprate a host of other things.

maybe i'll just aim for 190-200.

cheers for the info, great site btw, gonna take a long look around it.

For 200ish bhp?

Golf GT150 turbo -

Has anyone tried a s/hand 1.8T lump yet, that+ map will give 220 bhp & a much lighter car, An Audi TT lump will give you the bomb proof 6 speed box & with a map I believe is 270 ish bhp with total reliability. Im guessiong with some mechanical savvy it wouldnt be that expensive. Then you have the basis for a mega powerful fabia, Badger Bills Ibiza is 500+ bhp   , thats 200 more than rally car :D :D :D Will the Ibiza 1.8T lump, box, drive shafts etc go straight into the fabia, now Im getting ideas

don't think it does stuart, engine bay isn't as wide as the ibiza one i think.

Ok so its not a straight swap but I can remember someone who had a 3.5 Rover V8 transversly mounted in an Austin 1800 (yes Im old), Ive also seen a V8 in a Morris 1000 & several V8 conversions on Capris & Escorts, Its all down to mechanical enginuity & a big hammer :D :D

Would of thought they where the same as with the polo.

An idea would be to get a salvaged polo/ibiza 1.8T and then swap over.

oh it will fit definitly, but it won't just drop in sadly. but surely no more work than fitting a 1.8T to a mk2 golf etc.

you would have thought, but they aren't.

a polo like ross's will take a 1.8T as its based on an ibiza and not the normal polo, a normal polo is the same as the fabia and won't take a 1.8T easily.

Thought Ross's red estate was an old polo? Not the current polo

It is, but its based on the Ibiza Variant thingy, not the Polo! The Polo Estate isn't really a Polo at all,

Whats the labour on those?

Just found this.

"Hi!

My work is all custom so I need the car in my workshop.

The price for GT2256V install with all things it needs is around 1500eur (rebuilt turbo) and 2200eur (new turbo).

For GT22 you will also need a free flow 2.5 - 3inch exhaust , I can aslo get you one. Prices vary from 500-800eur.
