Tyre Pressures After Service!

Featured Replies

Took my car for a service last week, usually run 35 psi in the front and 33 in the rear. Went out to the car this morning and thought I would check them as they looked flat.

Anyway I noticed that they were 30 in the front and 27 in the rear! Quite shocked by that, anyone had any similar tyre weirdness after getting their car serviced?

I bought my Superb with a dealer service - I specified long life oil in order to keep it out of the dealer network for the duration of the remaining warranty. There were several gross errors (air filter element not changed despite being specifically mentioned for the Superb in the service book), but the worst was that the spare was dead flat.

The schedule calls for all tyre pressures to be checked - my spare has never been on the road and is not punctured. Due to the idiotic way in which VAG mounts the spare wheel in the boot so that it's impossible to check the pressure without taking it out, my supplying dealer just didn't bother to check it. That would have been a really nice discovery on a wet night sometime.

People who continue to pay dealers to carry out servicing are frequently ripped off and the cars consequently suffer from neglect. Either do it yourself or find a good independent to do the work.

Yes. I have a Superb 2.5 diesel, with recommended tyre pressures of 2.6 bar (38psi) front and 2.4 bar (35psi rear). After a car service at a Skoda dealership, I found the tyre pressures had been set to 2.2 bar all round. I pointed out the error to them.

Well, I found my spare at 16psi yesterday after being returned from the dealer after a 1 week sabbatical!
